Upgraded to 12.3.2.35 and now iTunes Store screens flashes

I just upgraded to iTunes 12.3.2.35 and now the iTunes Store screen flashes black. It happens 1 to 2 times per second, only the content portion of the screen (not the menu bar, etc.)

I've tried rebooting, diagnostics, etc. Does anyone have a fix?

This is my diagnostics screen:

I was having this same annoying problem. What worked for me was I uninstalled 12.3.2.35 and installed 12.1.3......then did an update to the newest version of Itunes. Somehow it cleared it up, but I will say that reverting back to 12.1.3 didn't work because it still flickered. After I did the update (Help--->Check for updates) it resolved the issue. They may have did a hot fix on the issue.

Its good that they've fixed the problem, but do they have to break every principle of software configuration management by having two different installers with an identical build number?

For reference, the 64-bit installers do differ in size:

  • "old" 12.3.2.35, iTunes6464Setup.exe - file size is 167,608,088 bytes
  • "new" 12.3.2.35. iTunes6464Setup.exe - file size is 167,583,000 bytes

Why would Apple do this? The correct protocol is to provide a new build number, alert users that a new version is available and then the user updates using the built in software. I checked for an update and am told my software is up to date and therefore there is no option to install the update. So as a non techie user I am left with a new issue - do I uninstall and reinstall - and why should I do this!! This is a very non Apple solution and IMHO it stinks.

Agreed on all points ... possibly a very "pragmatic" solution to getting fixed build out the door before a few million new iDevice users start installing iTunes tomorrow.

You shouldn't need to uninstall - just go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/, uncheck the "Send me iTunes updates ..." and "Keep me up to date ..." boxes, and click Download:

Once the download is complete, follow your browser's normal procedure to run a downloaded executable. You can also find direct download links to the corrected 12.3.2.35 installers (and previous versions) in turingtest2's user tip on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Although installing an iTunes shouldn't alter your library in any way, it may be a good "insurance policy" to create or update a backup of itfirst.

I'm the OP, and I just downloaded the 64 bit version from the link above. No joy - still flashing after a full reboot.

When the installer ran, it offered me a choice between "repair" and "uninstall". I chose "repair"

Should I uninstall, reboot, then install?

Yes. It may well have repaired using the previous versions of the registered components, rather than the contents of that installer. Check also the size of the download against hhgttg27's note above.
