Mail does not launch, using Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Hi all,

I have a MacBook Pro (Late 2011 - Yosemite 10.10.5). I updated it to the OS Yosemite several months ago, right after the Yosemite was released. I never had real problems managing the Mail App, but a few days ago it just stopped working.
Firstly, it just froze, not responding. I "forced quit" and re-launched for two or three times without success. Afterward, Mail did not even launch anymore.

When I try to launch Mail, it open the main window but quit almost immediately, and then give me the following message: "Mail quit unexpectedly", with a box containing the "Problem Details and System Configuration". Trying to re-open it, I get the following message: "The last time you opened Mail, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?"

What I did:

1. I already unchecked all e-mail accounts at the 'Internet Accounts' window, from System Preferences. It did not help, nothing changed..

2. I moved the folders "~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail" and "~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent" to the desktop, but nothing changed..

3. I reinstall the OS Yosemite. I'm still with the same problem with Mail.

Did anybody else get such problem?

Although I can check new messages straightly in GMAIL website, I have thousands of old messages organized in folders within Mail, and need to check them constantly during my work day. It somehow broke some of my functions at work.

What should I do?

In step 2 did you restart the computer?

Yes, at the step 2 I did restart the computer, but it didn't work.

Maybe should I update my OS to the El Captain ?? I didn't make it yet because I'm afraid that I will have problems of compatibility with some applications such as EndNote X6 and Office 2011.
