Logitech create keyboard scratched my iPad pro screen

HI, I just bought a screen protector a couple of weeks after I got the iPad pro. I used to keep it in the Logitech create keyboard case Without the screen protector. Yesterday when I was cleaning the screen to apply the screen protector I noticed 1 line running across the top of my screen. So I tried to clean it up but it didn't come off. So I tried to gently remove the line with my finger nail and then I felt little stretches along the line. I checked closing the secreen to see if the keyboard was the one causing it and the line perfectly overlaps with the top indent of the keyboard case. Does any of you have this happened?

Thanks,

Andrea

I have attached 2 pics, the first one you can see the line left from the keyboard under the screen and the other one you can see what I mean by the keyboard indentations.

Just wanted to jump in here and say that I, too experienced the same issue with the Logitech keyboard - and it was because of this thread that the Apple Store that I went to had zero problems immediately replacing my iPad and keyboard (currently typing on the iPad Pro smart keyboard).

Some small details: I purchased my iPad Pro on Jan 27 2006 and on the suggestion of the salesperson at the Apple Store, bought the Logitech keyboard instead of the IPad keyboard - he suggested it would protect the back and front of the iPad as well as offering more stability when I wanted to use it in bed or on my lap. I have to admit - I really did love the keyboard - until this month when I noticed the same lines that I saw in the photos above. At first, I too thought that I would be able to remove them, but when they were readilly apparent during a presentation I was giving (On March 22nd) and then I really made an effort to remove the scratches and realized that they were damage caused by the keyboard, I took to this forum and found that the sad reality was true.

Yesterday I returned to the Apple Store where I purchased the iPad and showed a repair person the keyboard and linked to this forum. He was fantastic. After going through the motions of also trying to wipe off the scratches, he immediately set me up with a new iPad, and I paid the difference for the new keyboard.

I should also mention that don't typically carry this iPad around in a bag where it can get compressed by other things. I usually carry it in a sleeve and put it in my purse - so it's not likely any undue compression caused this. Just think the simple act of closing and opening it over time caused it. Bums me out too, because I actually really liked the keyboard.

I'm hoping that Apple realizes that this is an issue and stops selling the keyboard. And hope that Logitech pulls the keyboard until they can resolve the problem.

Hoping others find this forum - and find other Apple reps that were as friendly as mine and are just as eager to help find a solution to this problem if you find yourself having it.

Good luck!

So far, it seems that all cases (including mine) were solved by Apple agreeing to replace the damaged iPad with a new one. On top of that, I've opened a case with Logitech and they have agreed to refund the screen protector I purchased to prevent this issue from happening again.

I am however still chasing them to understand what else they intend to do in the long run, as I'm expecting more unhappy customers will show up after realising the keyboard permanently scratches the screen. Maybe they are considering there is only a minority of clients complaining about this issue and there's an internal agreement between Apple and Logitech where Apple replaces iPads damaged by the keyboard and recharges the costs to Logitech, avoiding PR disasters but I wouldn't bet on it...

My iPad almost didn't get replaced after the Apple salesperson coldly told me scratches were not covered by the warranty (even though the said scratches were caused by a product sold at the Apple store) and that I should contact Logitech's support team instead. My replacement was triggered by running a few tests at the Apple store and realising the screen was defective (touch screen was not responsive in some very specific areas), which I had not noticed myself.

I hope this thread can remain active to push Apple/Logitech to do something about this issue. It will save a lot of frustration for other unlucky customers.

PS: buying a screen protector may be a good idea anyway if you want to use the Apple Pencil, as I understand repeated use can also scratch the screen

I have the same problem myself. I purchased my iPad Pro and Logitech keyboard from Best Buy just days after the iPad Pro became available. Had I noticed the marks earlier, I would have attempted to return both. But I was always able to buff them out with little effort and I assumed it was just residue from the keyboard. Then I realized that while it APPEARED I was removing the marks with a micro-fiber cloth, they would return if I simply breathed on the screen or ran my finger over the areas where they appeared. Using water to wipe the screen also made the marks re-appear.

But I could still buff them out. So I purchased a ZAGG HD Clear screen protect with the idea that if I applied the protector right after buffing out the marks, I'd have an unmarred screen again. Not so, since the HD Clear requires a liquid solution to apply it. The solution immediately made the marks appear again, but under the screen protector of course, so buffing was no longer an option and the marks were always visible.

I didn't want to spend $80 (after already spending $50) for a ZAGG tempered glass protector, but since these don't require a liquid, I felt confident that using tempered glass would be the answer. I then came across the iCarez tempered glass protector on Amazon for only $18 (Prime, and normally $50). I ordered it, buffed the screen one last time to remove the marks, applied the protector, and the screen now looks--and stays--as clear as the day I purchased the Pro. And I'm still using the Create keyboard, with no indication that it's going to mar the finish of the tempered glass.

I Have too noticed "marks" on my screen on the upper edge when iPad is propped up with Create case. The marks I've seen/had this far have wiped off with microfiber cloth. I DID lay a layer of scotch tape on keyboard along where palm rest of keyboard is as that is part of mine I believe is making contact. Hoping the scotch tape spaces it just far enough apart or creates a "barrier" from further marks on my screen. From everything I have read everywhere about this I am afraid if I didn't or don't do something soon my screen will be permanently scarred.

Is there another potentional point of contact other than palm rest area when Create case is closed? I reached out to Logitech over a week ago about this issue; no response. I don't think they seem interested in swapping these for a new/modified corrected version. :-( Hopefully this neatly placed scotch tapes blocks/prevents or spaces screen just far enough to keep more serious permanent marks from happening.

Same screen damage problem with my iPad Pro, Apple exchanged my iPad but pointed out screen damage is not covered under warranty. The damage to my iPad screen appeared to be on the inside of the screen and not necessary scratches on the outer surface but still caused by pressure from the raised sections on the keyboard in the same places as shown in the photos.

I purchased the keyboard from a different store and will be taking it back today to ask for a refund although I loved using it and liked the protection it offered apart from the damage it has done.

Also, the technican a Apple commented that they no longer sell the Logich Keyboard but I opened thire site in store and pointed out that they still do and that Apple need to address this with Logitech.
