problems printing to bonjour shared printer on el capitan

Since upgrading to El Capitan, I cannot use the printer that is shared via bonjour. The printer does work from the computer it is attached to via usb.
I can see and choose the printer from the other computer, but when the file gets to the printer proxy it says it cannot connect to the printer, "communication error... printing - looking for printer..."

Any ideas? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and printer driver on the computer as suggested by Epson. They have since handed over the issue to Apple since it does work from the connected computer.

After several hours trying to resolve this issue on my system, I downloaded the latest driver for my EPSON directly from the EPSON site, and installed it. I was then able to print with this (bonjour-shared) printer from anywhere on my LAN.

Don't use Apple's drivers for EPSON printers.

I'm having the same problem, but with a Canon (LPB6000). I have downloaded the latest driver from Canon (3.87). Still can't print to it via Bonjour printer sharing from a MacBook Air. The printer is discoverable and can be added to the list of available printers, but printing to it always fails. The printer is hosted on a MacMini. Both machines are running 10.11.6

The only clue I have is that the cups error log has the following entry (three times) for every printing attempt:

E [08/Sep/2016:08:49:49 +0700] [Client 473] Bad URI "//printers/8025DFBF-E359-44F7-8315-A9CFA0256A4B" in request.

But, I have no idea how to fix that….
