GPS tracking error

As soon as I upgraded to ios 9.2 last week I noticed that all of my Map Apps were having difficulties pointing to my exact GPS location, be it Waze, Google Maps or even the default Apple Maps. I cannot find a solution to this.

I cannot even seem to downgrade back to ios 9.1.

I use maps everyday! So I could a solution to this problem as soon as possible.

Thanks Apple Community.

I have been dealing with Sr. Advisors on phone support for 1 week now and no luck as yet. They're reviewing my log files to find out if anything can be found out there.

However, unless more people phone into support (not posting here, make a phone call) reporting same issue, it is unlikely they will acknowledge this affects a broader audience. This could be something they address by software update but only if enough ppl report the issue.

I completely agree with tdotintoronto! Everyone needs to be calling Apple about this problem. Obviously there are so many of us that are having this issue and nobody in this support community has a solution! Apple MUST do something about this because this is not a small isolated issue! But, it probably seems small to them because they are not getting the influx of calls reporting the issue. So everybody get on the phone TODAY and call Apple. I will be calling soon myself. Good luck everyone and report back here with any new information.

Hi Guys,

Actually I also having the same issued again, no gps.

I have been chat with AT&T and Apple support, and they seems could not figure it out what is the problem.

however, after i try many ways, I am not sure this might be solution, but seems like my gps is working fine(gooels maps, waze, and maps)

let me write it down what I have done so far, I try my best to make it short.

- First I test my sim card if the sim card is the issued or not, I try to use my sim card to my friends (Iphone 6) with 9.2.1 and the gps working fine, and I try use my friends sim card to my phone, but samething the gps is still not working.

So I am pretty sure the problem must be with my Iphone.

- Next, I also did some test, I open my google maps, and I set my phone to Airplane mode, to see if the gps working or not, I am working around with Airplane mode and check my gps if they were able to locate me correctly or not.

- Last thing what I did is I run the waze application and set the destination to random place, then I live it on and leave it alone for 15 - 20 minutes, at first on the waze it still show No GPS notification, but after I live it there for 15 - 20 min, the waze was able to see my gps and start direct me.

Then for that day, my waze was working fine(even with maps, google maps all fine now)

Occasionally, it show no GPS, and what I did just same, leave it on the waze at home or office and wait till they able to locate me.

I am not sure this would help others, but I just want to share my experience, up until now my waze is working fine, its been fine for 4 - 5 days without any issued. my carrier is AT&T.

I went to the genius bar today in apple store. The told me that the wifi and gps are on the same chip and most likely that chip is fried. Since I am out of contract, the only option is to get a replacement for $299 + tax.

I am trying to figure out of this repair can be done by third party. One repair shop I called told me that they can replace the wifi antenna for $99. Not sure if that'll fix the GPS issue.

Debating to go with the $99 option or bite the bullet and get a replacement from apple for $299. Very disappointed with apple though.

UPDATE: Good news is that Apple support is investigating issue with the engineers who are reviewing log files from my phone. Today, I got a call from the advisor asking me specific questions and scenarios. They have asked me to submit additional info pertaining to specific situations which means they are investigating the issue.

Needless to say, and at the risk of repeating myself - if more people were to contact support and provide the details of this issue they can perhaps arrive at the solution quicker. If solution happens to be software update, so be it. At least you will have a working phone. So please go ahead and contact Apple support. You don't need to be under warranty to contact Apple for your issue.
