MacBook pro running slow.

This wonderful machine has begun to run slow. : ( We are pretty sure its us not the machine, but Us, that has done wrong somewhere along the line.

We've seen you kind apple wizards solve this sort of thing quite well for folks in a similar situation. We would be very grateful if you could help us no longer stare into the spinning wheel of bummer.

Below are messages per your post for my extremely slow mid 2010 MBP. lines vary so much not sure how a few will help but here are some pasted in for viewing. MBP is slow to boot and all program launches are very slow, mail takes about a minute for a message to open. I have maxed memory on the machine. Any help appreciated.
