How to tell if a Photo is in an album or library

Have this same question, however, under Glenn's solution above the word "Any" is not in the drop down menu. It appears that this field cannot be changed.

Getting rid of the 5-star rating in iPhoto already took a useful tool away from me.

Those were replaced with keywords during the migration:

Drag them to the quick group and you can use the number keys to assign those keywords to photos.

jeric - did you figure this out? The first drop down must be "Album" for "Any" to be an option in the third drop down.

This is the sole reason I do not use Apple's Photo, its a nightmare knowing which photos are in an Album and which are not. I love Adobe's Lightroom product, not Adobe I might add, and as a result of the latter would love to migrate away but this issue, and I say issue not feature, is completely stopping me which is frustrating as I'd lie to simply my photo manage,tn and this issue actually means it's so tricky.

Of course the simple solution was posted as the first post to this solved thread
