My mac didn't come with Quicktime so i downloaded /Users/tamileelavallee/Downloads/QuickTimePlayer7.6.6_SnowLeopard.dmg I'm not sure if it was the wrong one because it won't open at all

For some reason Apple wont let me post the screen shot of my applications with quick time in it. When I click on quick time player in Applications, It brings me to a new finder page and it says Quick time player icloud. Thats it. On my other computers, quick time would be at the top of my computer( where the time it an volume...etc). But its not.

That is NOT the Applications folder, so it is not there

Please do what I said and open the APPLICATIONS folder, start Qtime from there

I understand what he's saying. If he tries to open QuickTime player, it opens a Finder window instead. It also lists it as a device that can be ejected along with Camtasia 2. Something is seriously amiss.

He has not opened QT, he went to the wrong folder

You can see in the screenshot that QuickTime Player is highlighted beneath which IS the correct Finder window.

Nope, that is the iCloud folder, Applications is 3 folders below it.

If you say so. The OP already explained that when he tries to open QTP the new window opens instead. He also said he doesn't have the same problem on his other Macs.

I'll leave you two to resolve this.

Double click on QuickTime in the folder you are currently in, a Finder Window will open, when it does press the button marked 'Done' and QuickTime will load, then go to the file menu and open it. New Audio Recording will be the second entry down.

If you don't know what the File Menu is, please ask. Follow the instructions, exactly, Don't deviate from them at all.

The first screenshot you posted was NOT the Applications folder, the second one (despite what you say) is.

Yay! It worked. Thanks guys. That was harder than it should be.

The first screenshot you posted shows the QuickTime installer highlighted on iCloud, the second shows QuickTime (the app) highlighted in the Applications folder.

Are you a new Mac user?

FWIW, I have the Open File Dialog disabled for QuickTime among others. He was seeing the Open File Dialog Window. Nothing to do with being in the wrong folder.
