I am getting "Cannot Open, This media format is not supported" error message when I try to listen on my WIFI network. It works fine on cell phone 4G. It seems that I am not the only one experiencing this. Does anyone know how to fix this?
To fix the “music not supported” issue, you’ll need to remove the song from the device by picking “remove downloads” (DO NOT DELETE IT FROM THE LIBRARY). When you see the cloud next to the song, press on the cloud to redownload the song from icloud. The song should play.
The issue is actually in the initial restore of the phone and is common with restoring from itunes. If you remove it from the device and put it back on the phone via icloud, it will work.

That's right! I've been experiencing the same problem for about a week, over both wi-fi and 4G. This is really frustrating like someone said here, every single album that I've tried to listen dropped the same ****** message... Maybe one or two tracks worked fine, but all the rest went "not supported".
Is there any problem with Apple Music servers or something?

Absolutely!!! Apple should fix this bug urgently, we're paying for less than the half-service...
Now my own medicine does not work. Recently I started to get the same error again. No amount of resetting makes Apple Music work on WIFI network. Cellular works fine for me.
The issue has been cleared up for me and has worked for about a week now. I'm not sure if that's true for everyone but if you're working on Cell Data perhaps it is an issue with the wifi you're connecting to? Are you having issue with any other online services and have you tried to reset your router as well as your phone?

So here's a jacked up temporary fix that worked for me. I turned off wifi on my iPhone, played whatever music was in question (seems like most are having trouble on wifi, not cellular) then turned wifi back on while the music was still playing. Afterwards I was able to play whatever I wanted Even through systems like Sonos.
I have a better workaround. Switch to Spottify.
