The Apple ID showing on the ICloud settings page is wrong and shows my old email address which does not exist as an Apple ID

The Apple ID showing on the ICloud settings page is wrong and shows my old email address which does not exist as an Apple ID. I keep being asked to sign into this old apple ID but when I try to reset the password the Apple website tells me this "old" email address is not a valid ID, if that makes sense. I have tried to log out of ICloud but still keep being asked for the password to sign out of Find my Ipad.

I know my correct Apple ID and password and have checked the details on the Apple website which shows the Ipad on the list of devices.

The Ipad will no longer connect to WiFi and I took it to John Lewis today where I purchased it and they think the whole problem is being caused by this ID problem.

Other than take it to the Apple store, does anyone have any suggestions please?

This does not work. When I try to edit my apple id to the old email address it tries to send a verification code to the old email address that does not exist???

So frustrating.

YES! I just got a new 7 (ios 10) and everthing is fine except this incessant asking for an ID THAT DOES NOT EXIST and hasn't for almost 3 years?!

Precisely. This happened to me with several accounts that were older and I needed the password but it would ne sent to one that no longer existed, went round and round w/-a 21 year old that just could not grasp that concept.

At least my current ID works w/my new iPhone 7, I just get an annoying pop up asking for my password for the iTunes Store with an apple ID that hasn't existed in years. ***?

Nothing in the support even has ant of these issues answered. I KNOW my real ID and it works. I KNOW my password. But that's just about the only rudimentary help "support" gives. I'm a gen X IT person (or was before becoming a mom) and the obtuseness of NOT LISTENING to individual's problems is bizarre. I personally think they don't have a clue,
