When I power on

When I power on instead of going straight to my desktop My name, test & Guest User pops up and it ask for my password. How do I get rid of this?

FileVault (no 'Fire') has been part of OS X for years now.

You DO NOT need to run FileVault if you do not want.

FileVault is whole disk encryption, so that if your Mac is lost or stolen, no one will be able to look at the data stored on your system unless they have your password or the recovery key.

On the "other side of the coin", if you forget your password or lose the recovery key, you will not be able to get to your data either (there are no backdoors, no secret handshakes, nothing without the your password or the encryption key).

System Preferences -> Security -> FileVault

And I mentioned FileVault because when you power on your Mac you want to go directly to your desktop and not have to enter your password. If FileVault is enabled, you will ALWAYS need to enter your password when you power so the boot process can decrypt files as it reads them into memory.

Turning off FileVault will stop that behavior.

Bob, I have another problem. On Calendar every time I pull it up I get a box, Calendar can't connect to the Yahoo! account "Yahoo!" Enter the password for & then my email. I don't have a password for Calendar & I just cancel & it goes away. Thanks,

I don't use Apple's Calendar (I use a 3rd party calendar on my iPhone, and nothing on my Mac). And I do not use Yahoo.

Since this is a totally different topic, I would suggest a "New" thread/post specifying your Calendar/Yahoo/mail problem. A good subject line should get your the attention from people that do use Calendar.

You might consider a screen shot of the dialog box asking for a password. Sanitize it to remove any personal information if there is some

Command-Shift-4, drag the cross hairs around the dialog box, a screen shot should appear on your desktop, double click on it to bring up Preview, then Preview -> Tools -> Annotate to select drawing tools you can use to put arrows, text boxes or thick lines over sensitive information, Then Command-S to save, and finally, drag and drop the screen shot file from your desktop into a forum reply and you will have provided a screen shot of the offending dialog box.

Or just give a good description 🙂
