Connectivity issue using 10.11.3 (15D21)

Updated my iMac to latest version of iOS -- 10.11.3 (15D21) -- first thing this morning. Now, most websites don't appear to load properly.

Using both Chrome (default browser) and Safari (test browser), Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Gmail all work fine, but CBS News, The New York Times, my own, and others seem to be perpetually loading...

My phone is hooked up to the same router / modem as my desktop, also runs Chrome and experiences no issues with any of these websites.just

Why can't Apple test stuff before sending it out? Seriously... Every new patch brings about a new set of issues. It's awesome to be on the customer side of that relationship...

I just installed OS X 10.11.3 today and lost connectivity and could not browse the internet. I am running ESET Security Pro for Mac.

Turning OFF ESET did not fix the problem but completely uninstalling ESET and rebooting did fix the problem and all runs normally now without ESET.

There is clearly a compatibility issue between ESET and OS X 10.11.3 -- your machine is effectively rendered unusable with 10.11.3 unless you completely uninstall ESET.

The uninstaller for ESET is located within the ESET package. You go to Finder, right click on ESET, and if you fish around in the subdirectories you will find the UNINSTALLER app. Uninstall ESET, reboot, and your problem will be fixed.

I'm following three threads about this issue.

The latest guidance is that ESET has a fix and all you have to do is update to latest version.

Majority of people on this forum do not believe any Anti Virus software are required on a Mac, and so their suggestions will be that you just uninstall ESET and don't look for a substitute.

Now if only I could figure out how to unsubscribe from these three threads... My mailbox is being inundated by angry nerds who are all saying the same thing and not reading all the comments...

At the top of the forum page for this thread is a "Follow" check-mark. Click it so it is no longer blue. That should stop your following of the thread. Repeat for every thread you do not want to follow.

I confirm it: problem solved!

A couple of minutes ago, finally received an email from ESET noticing they solved the problem this afternoon at 16:35 (GMT?).

I installed it a couple of minutes ago and apparently everything is working fine again.

At the moment, I'm browsing this forum with ESET Cyber Security Pro installed again.

I do believe Mac too deserve an anti virus.Trust me I did not purchase Eset for the sake of their blue eyes. I have had virus and problems. A Mac "was" supposed to be safe, but time changed

Mac OS X includes its own XProtect software that is automatically updated. And it has been doing very well.

How does Mac OS X protect me?

Nettflix, Hulu, HBO, and Cinemax all use Flash. I know Zuckerberg and Jobs (and maybe even Gates?) all say Flash needs to die, but right now it's not realistic to say people can do without it.

Did you read the article? If you don't need Flash or Java don't use them. If you need Flash or Java use them. I use both yet follow the advice given in the article. Don't follow the advice if you don't want to.

Netflix uses Microsoft SilverLight. I cannot speak for the other services.

And yes, I still have Flash installed, because I cannot resist those "Cat" videos 😁
