IPhone 6 IOS 9.2.1 No Service - regularly iPhone shows "No Service" even though usage is in high signal area. Must reboot to get back service. Is this a known issue? Any fix?

Regularly get "No Service" indicator in strong signal area. Only remedy is to reboot unit. Then service indicator will show full signal strength. When "No Service" of course I get no calls or messages. Very frustrating to need to regular,y look at my phone to see if I have service even though I know signal is strong. Is this a known issue? Any fix other than constant review and reboot when "No Service". BTW my android friends have no such issue when we physically socialize together. My iPhone is now the butt of many jokes. Not funny to me.

an update. i find that if you switch the sim card - with another sim that is working - then the phone gets the network. then once the phone recognizes the new sim - switch back the original sim - then the phone works without a hitch for about 4-6 hours even with the old sim. the only problem is one has to have two sims around!!

hope this works for you guys.

also the problem is quite widespread i am meeting more and more people who are having this "no service" problem - here around my house itself i have met 5 people since yday facing this problem - but funnily there isnt enough noise about it in the social media. is there an apple email id or something that people can send the problems to? So that apple takes this problem seriously - right now it looks like they are treating this as an exception...

I have been having the same issue since my update last week as well. It started out as sporadic service loss. A quick reboot would return functionality.

Two days ago it stopped all together, reboot, reset, toggle of settings, nothing would return service. So I found this thread and tried removing the sim the card. I do not have a secondary one to insert and test, so I just put the original back in and rebooted. It shows full service as expected at home, but it will not make a call. Any number dialed would not ring and call would fail ("call failed" message). What is strange is that I received a few SMS messages from earlier in the day after re-installing my sim card. I have been using WiFi calling in place of cell service until I get a chance to get to the Genius Bar.

I am not completely convinced this is an Apple issue in my case, but it seems like a strange coincidence.

I use my phone for private and business purposes. Last Sunday Jan 24th it updated to iOS 9.2.1 and now i have all the issues with "no service". Even used three different SIM Cards and I did all the help points listed above but nothing helps. Went to the local Apple store here in Munich, Germany and all the employee said is "get an appointment at Geniur Bar. Sorry...next available spot is in 5 days!" I asked for a replacement unit until the next available appointment in 5 days, but the answer was "that's your responsibility". Very unpleasant and unprofessional employee!!! If I buy a car that does not work, it is not my responsibility to buy a second one! In this case it is clearly a software/firmware issue. With all the profit Apple makes it should be easy for them to redeem its customers in justified cases. Thank you Apple...I am stuck with an iPhone 6s that I can't use for at least the next 5 days. How will you reimburse that?

It appears to be the mentality of Apple employees that we really don't care if you don't buy our product..... There's a million others that will. When my wife's 4S Wi-Fi chip/anatanae was failing. The "Genius Bar" had me wipe her phone for the 3rd time and said see, "it's your problem not ours".... I stalked him for like 5minutes and luckily it failed again, when I showed him, he changed his tone, went straight to the back and brought out a new phone. before that he made me feel like I was stilid or something..

has the No service problem been solved for any of you? my problem is as strong as ever. the only thing that gives some relief is swtiching sim cards - but carrying two phones is silly.

also on doing some googling i find that one can restore to 9.2 - bcos apple is apparently still "signing" the update. i am trying to download the ipsw file with no luck - the download keeps interrupting. so if you have any friends in apple care - or some good techies - they can potentially help you go back to 9.2.

PLEASE NOTE = apple may discontinue signing 9.2 ANYTIME after about a week - so we all have a very small window to do the needful

Hey everyone,

So I have seen this issue arise in quite a few customer's who have brought their phones into my companies store. (I work for a 3rd party to Apple but we repair their phones and what not) There are a few fixes I have seen that fix it a couple you guys have said already but sometimes they do fix the issues.

The first one is what we call DFUing a phone. Essentially what you are doing is wiping the phone of everything and reinstalling iOS.

First you want to make sure that you back up to iCloud. Don't back up to iTunes in this case. If it is a software issue it will replicate when you restore from iTunes backup.

1. Put the phone into recovery mode.

A. Hold lock button and home button at same time until you see the apple logo then let go of lock button while still holding home button until you see the iTunes logo and the lightning connector below it.

2. Plug in your to your computer. iTunes should open. Now at this point the best way to reinstall the os is using a file that is stored locally on your machine. There are a few good websites that have the iOS files store so you can download them. Make sure you get the correct file and have it downloaded somewhere you can remember it.

3. Once iTunes is open you should hit option(mac) or alt(windows) at the same time you click restore.

4. A dialogue box will pop up and you will select the file that you want to restore to.

5. It will go through the reinstall and iOS will boot back up for you.

If this doesn't work get a new sim card from your carrier and then once you do, do the following:

Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Network settings

If that doesn't work then it is very possible that it's a hardware failure and you need to get in touch with Apple.

I hope this helps some people!

I did format the phone last weekend a complete format and restored my data form the backup's taken. Atleast it has been a bit stable than what it was post the upgrade on 9.2.1 (probably a rouge process or file hung) but doesn't eliminate the problem. Switching between wifi to 3g / 4g always is a problem, sudden drop out of signals on 3g still happens but the frequency is quite low.

hope a complete format helps every one who are having a similar issue.
