IPhone 6 IOS 9.2.1 No Service - regularly iPhone shows "No Service" even though usage is in high signal area. Must reboot to get back service. Is this a known issue? Any fix?

Regularly get "No Service" indicator in strong signal area. Only remedy is to reboot unit. Then service indicator will show full signal strength. When "No Service" of course I get no calls or messages. Very frustrating to need to regular,y look at my phone to see if I have service even though I know signal is strong. Is this a known issue? Any fix other than constant review and reboot when "No Service". BTW my android friends have no such issue when we physically socialize together. My iPhone is now the butt of many jokes. Not funny to me.

I have NOT upgraded to 9.2 (my company will not allow just yet) and am having the same issue. So I'm not sure if it is related to the update. Thinking it may be a hardware issue. It was happening intermittently before but now I get a steady NO SERVICE. Of course the signal died completely when I was traveling alone at night. Thanks Apple! Heading to Verizon store today to see what they do for me

I upgraded my iphone 6 to 9.2 after which I started noticing 'No Service' error intermittently (More prominent in places where signal strength is low). If I use the same SIM on an android phone I have no issues, it works well.

Last week I noticed the update 9.2.1 and installed it hoping that Apple did some fix for this. Unfortunately the issue aggravated, I am no longer able to use my phone at home ! Most of the time the status is No Service.

I tried resetting, rebooting, switching from LTE-3g-2g etc.. Nothing is helping.

I switched the SIM to my older android phone which works perfectly well.

Apple should fix the issue as early as possible - basic usage of phone is at jeopardy on this expensive device !!

I had this issue and nothing helped - not upgrading to 9.3 beta, not wiping the phone and re-installing, not changing any of the settings. But what did help was to change my phone from 4G to 3G. I went to Settings - Mobile Data - Voice and changed the value there to 3G and the issue stopped. The phone signal is now stable and my battery life has improved greatly.

Solved

Hi Everyone

I registered on the forum just to help, because I had same issue and I solved it the easiest way as suggested by FahimFarook. All I did was reset network settings :

Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

And then changed setting from 3G to 2G. You can change it from your existing setting to any other available, all that needed is one change in that setting. After you get signals you can change it back to your desired settings:

Settings>Mobile Data>Voice

Regards.

I have the same "No service" problem after the IOS 9.2.1 update on my iphone 5. Everthing else is working fine. I can even get messages but cannot send any messages. My phone rings if someone calls but it is impossible to reply. I reseted network settings as mentioned in this post and everything worked for 5 minutes (I was able to make a call during that time) and then "no service". This is why I suspect that this problem is a related to the update.

UPDATE!

I have had no luck over the last week. It has been spotty at best, with mostly 4G service for about 10 minutes at a time. This entire day I have been with "no service."

I did try the above network reset tip but that is not a solution. Service was restored for a few minutes but failed once again. I also tried a friends SIM card in a known good location with no change.

I did make it to the Apple store today. They did a full restore from iTunes to iOS 9.2.1 but that still did solve the problem. Thankfully they opted on the side of customer service and replaced my phone even though it is 3 months out of warranty. The tech mentioned that the issue may be something related to my account and I may have to start from scratch if the issue returns after I fully restore the phone.

Luckily the phone does not have the 9.2.1 update yet. Once the restore process is complete I will give it some time to see if the issue returns. If not I will update it to 9.2.1 and see if I am left with the "no service" issue again.

I will post another update once I have more information.

SOLVED

Thanks a lot Mystery.

Your tricked worked for me.

I tried all the available options and nothing was working for me. Even i did the fresh restore of my iphone 5s as brand new but that also didn't solve my issue.

I want to service centre and as per them it seems to be more of hardware issue and asked me to replace the phone, as my phone was not under warranty it was chargeable. I said ok but the cost of replace was equal to buying a new phone. I was really upset after listening to this from apple service centre.

Lastly i just tried the steps provided by Mystery and it worked fine for me. its 24 hours now and everything is working fine for me. Thanks a lot man you saved my many bucks.

I have just change the mobile data from 3g to 2g. Also if we disable the cellular data then also it will not solve the issue, cellular data needs to be turned on and network need to be set to 2g then only it will worked.

Someone from apple needs to look into it as to me its surely seems to be IOS 9.2.1 issue.

Thanks

Chintan

I have the same issue with iPhone 6 Plus, first only losing service once in a while and a reboot would fix it, now (after updating to 9.2.1) I lose service for days without anything helping. Last night I tried to change settings from 4G to 3G which made it work for about 12 hours, now it's back on Serching or No service. This drives me crazy!

Hi all,

2 nights ago, I allowed my iPhone 6+ to update while I was sleeping ( there was an option to update between 2am-7am while charging ), and when I woke up the next day, my iOS was already updated to 9.2.1 but I lost all mobile signal. I never recovered mobile service, my phone displays the 'NO SERVICE' message no matter what reboot or reset I do. I've tried all the suggestions in this forum, but nothing has worked. I am still at a loss as to why this happened. I am now regretting updating to iOS 9.2.1 since everything was working fine when I was using the previous version.

Apple, please help. I've always been a believer and supporter of your products, from my first iPod Classic to my current 6+ device. And apart for the occasional glitches, never had any big issues up until now. Thanking you in advance for your assistance and guidance.
