No internet after update 2016-001

After recent update (2016-001) for Yosemite 10.10.5 I cannot access certain sites.

I use cable connection to Router (192.168.1.1). It says Not available.

Network diagnose says Internet ok.

I also have Windows in VirtualBox. From there I can access my Router and surf the Internet.

I also have a VPN from where I can reach my router from "outside" and surf.

But never direkt with 192.168.1.1.

Ping is ok < 1 mS

Browser Safari, GC and FF. All the same.

All this happened after update.

Email is ok (Thunderbird)

DNS seems ok since I get ip adresses in Lookup.

I've seen many similar questions in communities and many workarounds but none that really works.

If I'm lucky I can reach certain sites but never my own Router.

How can I get my Macbook Pro back to normal?

Can I disable this last update?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

This was not intended to be a response for EleanorFromWatertown, I did see that you don't use ESET. I just don't know how to put a comment where I'd like to, sorry.

I read the solution on the previous page and it fixed the problem for me. I was having real problems on both Safari and FF. Some sites would not load at all, some loaded partially and very slowly. I saw that the original solution did not resolve the problem so I didn't quite follow those instructions. I downloaded a fresh copy of the latest version dmg and used that to uninstall rather than deleting files. Then I shut down and restarted, then reinstalled and normally and it has been running perfectly since the reinstall. I did also submit a ticket with ESET so they can let me know when they have a newer version.

A regular reinstall fixed it for me. (So far, so good.)

I think I have a similar problem. Right after I installed the new "Security Update 2016-001" update, my outgoing email did not work. I have tried all available solution given to me for trying to sent out email, but to no avail. Now I see these posts, this update might be the problem. Can you tell me how to uninstall/reinstall ESET on my mac? I am not a stranger to computer lingo, but certainly not an expert, so if you can keep it simple it would be must appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, the answer has been given on the first page:

Via Activity Monitor, stopped the ESET processes (i.e., highlight, View->Quit Process). Via Finder, deleted ESET entries from both the Applications and Downloads folders. Emptied Trash

I had the very same problem with website that don't want to open. Right after killing the ESET's process and having deleted it, I went on their website to download the latest version. I did the installation and since then, no problem at all. It seems that we need to complete remove ESET and reinstall it with their latest version. This is simple as that.

Thanks to PJ-000 for the answer on page 1 of this thread.
