iTunes does not recognize my ipod since update to 12.3.2.35.
I recently upgraded to El Capitan 10.11.3 and updated iTunes to 12.3.2.35. Now iTunes doesn't recognize my ipod Nano 4th generation. What to do?
Thanks.

Also, iPhotos opens up when I plug in the ipod which never used to happen. I really don't use it for photos, but at least iphotos recognizes it. Thanks.
I have tried resetting the iPod, rebooting my iMac, and using a different USB cord. When I first posted, I had to disconnect the iPod but since it didn't show up in iTunes, I just unplugged it, and immediately got a message that I needed to disconnect appropriately. This means it recognizes it but doesn't show it in iTunes. (I used my iPod this morning without problems so no damage done.) I reset it again this morning and plugged into the iMac and iTunes still doesn't show that it is connected. I found a new "unknown" device in Finder with the pyramid icon, so now I can disconnect properly, but I can't load new songs or playlists from Finder. No devices show up in iTunes preferences. Prior to the latest update, my iPod and my iPhone were listed.
Can anyone suggest where to start? Thanks for any help you can give me.

That helped, Limnos. I signed out of iTunes and back with the ipod plugged in. It showed up and is now recognized each time I plug in. Thank you!
I, too, was having this same issue but with version 12.3.3.17 which I downloaded a month or so ago. I kept getting the notice on my iPod to allow access to pjotos and videos but nothing else. I tried all the solutions in the forums and nothing worked. I was about to make an appointment with my local Apple Store when I remembered this same thing happening with an earlier update. I remembered, I believe it was Turing test2's suggestion to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it. BUT. remember to uninstall each component in this order or you could have bigger problems.
1. iTunes
2. Apple Software update
3. Apple Mobile Device Support
4. Bonjour
5. Apple Application Support 32-bit
6. Apple Application Support 64-bit
Once you've done this go to the Apple website nad download iTunes again. It should be working for you then, It workd for me! All is gof in iTunes land again for me. No worries about losing your content from the previous iTunes. It will all be there in the new one. Good luck!!
