My internal harddrive is 500 gb big. 20 gb is now free. My external is 2 TB, and 500 gb free.

In order for OS X to work properly and have the 'breathing space' it needs to do so you should always keep at least 20-30 percent of the system drive free.. You have a tiny amount of free space left on your system drive so that can reduce the overall performance of OS X and therefore Logic too..

Why should I turn off Time Machine?

I typically turn off Time Machine when I am working in Logic so the system drive etc... isn't being constantly accessed by Time Machine which can reduce overall performance. I turn Time machine back on when I am not working in Logic

Why should I turn of Avast? Always assumed that its good to have an antivirus!

Personal Opinion: Most of these 'run in the background' Anti virus apps on the Mac are a waste of time and resources... and certainly place loads on system resources that you don't want when using Logic or any other DAW. Try using the excellent Malwarebytes freeware Malware app to check for Malware every so often (It doesn't run in the background, and so only uses resources when you actually run it..)

Another questions, how do I Download Additional Content, without downloading everything?

Thanks

Use the Sound Library Manager.... to select/deselect what you wish to download or not...

Logic's Menu bar > Logic Pro X > Sound Library > Open Sound Library Manager...

Problem solved! I'm gonna write down later today what I had to do to solve it.

I, for one... will be really interested to hear what was the root cause of your issues... so please update us when you can.

There we go. I'm sorry for my absence, but here comes the solution.

For some reason the problem is related to Alchemy, which is stated in the "error report".

First i tried to delete logic, and then reinstall it. THIS DIDN'T WORK. I suspect it is because the different logic files (not your project files) are still in the system.

So what i suspect is the solution is the following.

1, I deleted logic again, and all the files related to it (except your project fils, and your saved settings). Then i reinstalled in.

2, Navigate to Macintosh HD ->Users -> "your user"->Music->Audio Music Apps. I deleted this entire map. It shouldn't be a problem since this map is a reflection of Macintosh HD ->Users -> "your user"-> Library -> Application Support ->Logic. So when you delete it, it will eventually be recreated!

After I did this Logic worked fine. Though I suspect that I didn't have to go through step 1 (deleting logic). It probably would have been sufficient to delete the Alchemy folder in Audio Music Apps.

Let me know if you have any questions. And thank you to everyone that helped me! 🙂

Thanks mperor,

So it looks like it was indeed a permissions related issue as i first suspected.... that probably messed up your Audio Music Apps folder or maybe just prevented the Alchemy update from being correctly installed... or it became corrupted during the process.. and just removing and rebuilding the Alchemy folder would have probably sufficed as you suspect,..,

This is why creating a new user account and testing, is often the quickest way of identiftying such issues.. It's the 'quick and dirty' means of troubleshooting user account problems for sure🙂

Anyhow, again, thanks for letting us know.... and Im glad you are back up and running!

And thanks to you for your support Nigel.

I don't know why it happend now, but I've seen quite a lot of these issues coming up during the past week, so I suspect that it is related to an apple update.

One more thing regarding freeing memory space, I'm not sure if I will be able to free 20 % space, but I'll try to free at least 15. I have some Kontakt packages that I'm not always using. I usually use maybe 1/5 of them on a regular basis. Can i put the remaining 4/5 on a SD card, and still be able to tell Kontakt to look for files in both directions?

Best regards Philip Rosberg
