Empty inbox on iPhone using Yahoo mail. Why?

This problem occurred in the last 24 hours. All iPhone software is up to date. No new mails are coming through to my iPhone or iPad, but all mail exists directly in Yahoo mail via the web. I have deleted mail and re-loaded it, I have restarted the iPhone. I have checked the settings and everything looks fine. What has changed in the last 24 hours?

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.2.1

I have the exact same problem, and it started AFTER their Yahoo App update BEFORE I updated my iOS. I didn't even know about their app update (have mine set to automatic and only use their app when forced to), so after trying every usual email fix I updated the iOS assuming that was the issue.

Still no fix. 3rd day held hostage having to use their new app to get my mail on iPhone 6. Convenient for Yahoo that I'm being forced to use their new and improved app. EXTREMELY frustrating for me.

I thought the same thing!!! How convenient, I'm now forced to use this "new and improved" yahoo mail app. The app is terrible and very inconvenient to use. I now have to use the iOS mail client on my iPhone and iPad for my two other emails and then close that out and go to the yahoo mail app to check my yahoo mail. On a side note, I finally received a response from yahoo and they basically pointed me to some articles for beginners to attempt fixes that I had already tried in the first hour after this problem occurred. I've done it all; manually set up a yhoo imap account, deleted my yahoo account and loaded it back on my iPhone. Nothing works. Without a doubt, it's a problem on yahoo's end. All I can say is that my research indicates that iPhone and iPad users who had this problem in 2015 and 2014 basically said their email returnled to normal functioning operation with a few days to a few weeks. I guees we will see....

OK - magically my inbox has reappeared on my IOS devices and the unread message count issue has disappeared. Interestingly, my sent messages seem split between "sent" and "sent messages". Perhaps the sent mail is split between these two depending on platform was used to send the mail. Perhaps the resolution is still work in progress. Who knows. I did get an email this morning to say that Yahoo was still on the issue. Hopefully I get an email shortly that closes it out, and explains what happened so I can avoid it in the future. Might just hang on to the Yahoo mail app for a while longer, even though it is ordinary......

I hope this thread helps others and that your similar issues are resolved as well.

After finally finding a link on Yahoo mail that would allow me to email customer service rather than just posting to community, (they are no longer taking calls at their customer care phone number), I got a response and miraculously my email was working correctly again at the same time. It really does seem from their email text (below), and the speed of the "fix" that they are possibly just trying to force people to use their new app.

Yahoo response: "We're sorry to have to hear from you like this, but thanks for letting us know you're having trouble getting email using the default mail app on your Apple device. We've received other reports just like yours, and our engineers are working hard to fix this as soon as possible. Keep in mind that you can still access your email through the Yahoo Mail app or mobile web site. Thank you for your patience as we work to get this resolved for you."

Glad it's finally all sorted out, despite never finding out exactly what the problem was. I received exactly the same email before my problem was resolved. My mail is now working perfectly. I have also deleted the Yahoo mail app - not that it was a problem, but it is unnecessary. So the wrap up is to report it to Yahoo, keep hassling until you get a resolution! Time to move on 🙂

I'm having the same problem now. Can you tell me how you were able to contact Yahoo? I can go through all the steps they have about problems sending/receiving e-mails, but I can't type anything to them and I just get the automated response back a few seconds latter saying they looked at my email and everything is working (which, of course it's not.) I would appreciate your help.
