anyone else tired of forced Ios updates?

So... I got an I Pad air 2 & an I phone 6...

Of course unlike most here i do not wish to upgrade my 2 apple products.

And! I can't stand pushing that pop up twice a day... APPLE NEED TO STOP HARASSING ME! 😟

And no, it is not for a Jailbreak, but for this simple reason:I like my product to last more then a couple of years before slowing down to a turtle stop!

Believe it or not, i have an Iphone 3g and 4 hanging in a drawer somewhere.

Never updated them,no Jailbreak and they are still as fast (almost) as day 1!

You could just leave update there.

Until you actually proceed with the install, it is not installed.

You ARE NOT forced into actually installing any upgrade/update!

It does take up space on your iDevice, but it is NOT ever installed.

For future reference there is a way to temporarily remove an iOS upgrade/update so it can't ever be downloaded at all!

Go into the Settings App, General Settings panel.

In the right hand column, tap Storage and iCloud Usage.

At the top in the first block of 3 panels where it is titled at the top of this block Storage, tap the panel that says Manage Storage.

A list of every app will generate itself.

Once this list stops generating, look through this list until you see something like iOS 10.x.x in this list.

Tap on the arrow at the far right on that iOS 10.x.x panel.

It will bring you to another screen that will allowing you to completely delete/remove the entire iOS upgrade/update.

This removal/deletion of an iOS upgrade/update is not permanent and may return at anytime when the iOS upgrade/update at some point will get re-pushed to your iDevice, where you can simply perform this procedure, again, to delete the iOS upgrades/updates.

For the most part, iOS upgrades/updates typically, wii not reappear for several days up to a week to two week intervals.

I couldn't agree more with this. I am very annoyed at having system updates notifications on my vintage iMac. Clicking on what they are shows almost always iTunes update nonsense including games I don't even have on the device anymore.

Apple will keep doing this until they have rendered your device obsolete. Case in point is the next generation AppleTv which upon examination no longer has an optical output. In other words, Apple decided to cheapen it. They don't even instruct the buyer on how to connect his nice surround sound system to this updated nonsense. Word is that, should one elect to keep this new junk hardware item, he will have to keep his entire surround system turned on to get any audio. So long AppleTv! The "new" was returned.

Hey - imagine my surprise when the usb speakers that came with my G4 Cube & studio display - were not recognized my my 2008 mac pro desktop - using same display. Recently had to fire up the G4 & also noticed how nice and deep the startup chime is -- while the chime on the pro - is really harsh.

Apple may be requiring Wireless connection using an airport type thing. Reasoning - in Snow Leopard at least - the airport software settings have some time to Time Capsule - and no way to tell time machine you are using a USB drive.

I feel frustrated too; for some people updates could be beneficial, but I don't want bug fixes, I don't want more security, there is nothing of value on my devices.

After Apple's treatment regarding issues I had with a mac, I would have been more than happy to get another phone since I won't buy their products anymore, but unfortunately all modern phones are as annoying and nagging.

I have a 5s on ios 10.1 and it's been annoying me daily to update.. update for what? I mean what do I get from this update? I don't recall any benefit from the previous ones. And if you delete the update file, it will automatically come back, just like herpes.

I have days with updates on the phone, updates on the tablet, updates on osx and updates on windows..

I don't want updates, I don't want better / more secure / improved, etc I'm just tired of it all.

What you get with 10.3.1 is protection from a hacker who could permanently brick your phone through a bug in the WiFi chip firmware that allows a "drive by" WiFi signal to kill your phone forever. Even if you have nothing of value on your phone, your phone itself has some value. As all smartphones use the same chip, all smartphones are at risk, so it is a really tempting target for hackers. So far only Apple has issued a patch for it; most android phones are still at risk. http://www.zdnet.com/article/iphone-android-hit-by-broadcom-wi-fi-chip-bugs-now- apple-google-plug-flaws/

I will not be buying another Apple products or recommending them to others after my 6S is gone.

Forced iOS updates I neither want or need have made my life miserable. Anyone else need to change all their phone contact entries to add a 1 before the number (which work just fine without the 1 before the update)

I neither want nor need "added functionality". I just wanted the phone I bought, not the one it keeps morphing into without my consent.

Not at all. I have now used Android, Windows and Apple systems. Hands down the Apple iOS is the LEAST user friendly. I never had anywhere near the type of trouble Apple has caused me. not what I want to say, but an honest opinion. I use my phone for work, not social media, perhaps that is the difference. There is too much crap on the iPhone I cannot rid myself of, and the updates have caused me real trouble.

I bought a phone with email functionality, not a movie screen or social media interface. Apple seems to have a different opinion of how I should use the product I paid for, and wn't stop messing with it.

Have you considered a "dumb" phone: works great as a phone, does have internet capabilities (limited though), but it will never bug you. I have a Kyocera flip (Verizon) - works just like a phone is supposed to. I have no need for a smartphone and prefer not to pay for a data plan I wouldn't use as I find it much easier to look at emails on an iPad Pro, MBP, or iMac.

The real solution is through legislation; if we stop massive data collection, force companies to let 3rd parties access the os and do repairs, then we'll regain control of our devices; in the meantime, I'm using one only because it's convenient, but it doesn't bring me any joy and I certainly don't recommend it to anyone.

Yep, that's what we need, more government involvement. That always leads to more personal control.

I have right now a perfect example: tonight, almost every message I get on whatsapp, triggers a message that my storage is almost full... why is it almost full? 931.2mb taken by the ios 10.3.1 update that I don't want and will not install; and what will happen when I delete it? it'll be back, harassing me again and wasting almost 1gb of storage space.

This is exactly the garbage behavior that makes me hate using that product.

so, since I'm now down almost 1gb, should I delete more stuff to regain free space? or should I delete the update and install stuff I don't want to take space so that the update can't download? never again I buy that product.
