anyone else tired of forced Ios updates?

So... I got an I Pad air 2 & an I phone 6...

Of course unlike most here i do not wish to upgrade my 2 apple products.

And! I can't stand pushing that pop up twice a day... APPLE NEED TO STOP HARASSING ME! 😟

And no, it is not for a Jailbreak, but for this simple reason:I like my product to last more then a couple of years before slowing down to a turtle stop!

Believe it or not, i have an Iphone 3g and 4 hanging in a drawer somewhere.

Never updated them,no Jailbreak and they are still as fast (almost) as day 1!

You could just leave update there.

Until you actually proceed with the install, it is not installed.

You ARE NOT forced into actually installing any upgrade/update!

It does take up space on your iDevice, but it is NOT ever installed.

For future reference there is a way to temporarily remove an iOS upgrade/update so it can't ever be downloaded at all!

Go into the Settings App, General Settings panel.

In the right hand column, tap Storage and iCloud Usage.

At the top in the first block of 3 panels where it is titled at the top of this block Storage, tap the panel that says Manage Storage.

A list of every app will generate itself.

Once this list stops generating, look through this list until you see something like iOS 10.x.x in this list.

Tap on the arrow at the far right on that iOS 10.x.x panel.

It will bring you to another screen that will allowing you to completely delete/remove the entire iOS upgrade/update.

This removal/deletion of an iOS upgrade/update is not permanent and may return at anytime when the iOS upgrade/update at some point will get re-pushed to your iDevice, where you can simply perform this procedure, again, to delete the iOS upgrades/updates.

For the most part, iOS upgrades/updates typically, wii not reappear for several days up to a week to two week intervals.

You might be right I am already considering going back to a flip phone. It is much cheaper and why do I really need a ipad and iPhone which is kind of redundant and quite expensive in data cost and smart phones have extra cost because well the companies can. I bought the first gen ipad and the last upgrade bricked it and no way to go back it became more of a book reader and watch movies but internet crashed, apps crashed. Apple and Microsoft are trying to make it so we don't own anything and have no say, well that's not going to work for me.

YES! I and 1.5m other people searched the same ****** problem! How are we supposed to use our computer for anything else while we upgrade the ****** software every 72 hours!!! What was so wrong with it in the first place? If they cannot make a decent product to start, upgrading it constantly just broadcasts it. I do not have the time nor the patience to engage in something that keeps me from working on the device I need for work and we are forced to forever upgrade.

Employees, please spend your bonuses on solving this dilemma!

Sure it would do the same job if it is basic tasks, like checking email, browse the web, waste time on social media, playing music and watching vids(depends on video resolution)... But it would lag with your art programs. Will you have to reduce the number of layers in an artwork to prevent the app from lagging as you draw with your stylus/pencil ? It depends on what you use your iPad for.

That's true Zanaelf, yes there are apps such as the phenomenally clever new, very professional photographic editing and retouching app "Affinity Photo for iPad." It works flawlessly on the first 12.9 inch iPad Pro and some of the later iPads, the list seems to include IPad Air 2 (check as there's some doubt about that one), iPad 2017, iPad Pro 9.7 inch, 10.5 inch and 12.9 inch, but not, for instance, on my old iPad 2.

However, seeing that it works with several formats, including RAW, and can produce many non destructive layers and save with those layers to and retreive from your chosen cloud storage, it does not require above ios 10.3. I assure you that I have no ties to Seriph when I say that it's full spec and mighty reasonable for its spectacular capabilities. I rave about it, but no, you are right, there are indeed good reasons to buy newer IPads, but only if you need their capabilities.

It was me that wrote the rather critical, but I hope you agree, relevant post that drew comparisons between Apple hard and software upgrades and Sony's camera marketing methods. Within minutes Apple turned presidential and removed it, saying my post was "not technical enough, or possibly off subject." I.e. They didn't like that information being posted and censored it. I'm a journalist and it can always appear elsewhere - including their no reply censoring email. We'll see.

Their yard. Their rules.

EXXXXACTLY!!!

I bought a phone from you Apple...It cost me £1000... I like it, it’s great. I don’t want it to be better. I don’t need it to be improved. I don’t want more. I just want to continue with what I have and own! It’s mine. Not yours!

Everyone knows you use these updates to ruin our things so we buy your new things! It’s not a secret, it’s a fact! Leave me and my stuff alone, and I’ll actually continue to buy things from you at a rate that MY income can support!

I have two technical questions related to the unwanted downloads that Apple is kind enough to make to my Apple products and that come with a technically delayed popup, heavily balanced towards installing it, it's technically too easy to hit "install later" and miss the technically tiny "remind me later" line.

Asking other users about Apple's policies and decisions is a waste of time - we do not know and we aren't allowed to discuss it either. You should be addressing them with Apple.

FWIW, I have carefully removed your emoji while quoting parts of your post as it was very difficult to read.

And, another FWIW: I have a flip phone over which I have total control. It does exactly what a phone is supposed to do: make and receive calls and those are the only features I use. I would never buy a phone for such an obscene price when I could buy an iPad or computer for the same amount.

I couldn't agree more.

I don't want to update my iOS. why should I be forced to upgrade my iPad and iPhone? It doesn't allow me to download and use my Pages, Keynotes, and numbers documents. I hate that politic. my devices are already slow. I don't want to upgrade. Please understand your user satisfaction. I've already spend around $7k for Apple. I'm not happy. Please respect me as a user.

I don't have that problem at all on the Mac, I can update when I want and it will never shut down in the middle of something important, take my space, etc without me initiating the process.

Well, changes are coming to Mac OS; here is a link to the latest licensing agreement - see the bold in section 2 Q in particular:

Somewhat different wording in the iOS licensing agreement (section 2 i):
