Subtitles on my AppleTV4 are on by default. For example, I start an episode of a TV show and the subtitles are on; I turn them off; then, when I start the next episode, they're back on again. I see this behavior on both Netflix and Hulu. I don't see this when I watch the same content on other devices so I know it's an Apple TV4 issue. It's very frustrating.
I'm having a problem, so far, with subs defaulting to one with just one Netflix episode of Better Call Saul on ATV4.
It's the second ep of season 2. If I watch ep 1, no problem with subs. No problem either with Jessica Jones, or House of Cards.
As far as Better Call Saul season 2 ep 2 is concerned, if I turn the subs off by swiping down and turning off, then they stay off for the remainder of the ep, even if I pause and restart. However, as soon as I come out of the ep and go back in, bingo, subs are back on.
This isn't happening on my ATV3 or my MacBook Air.
If I preview the iTunes store version of the ep, no problem with subs.

I have had this issue for a few weeks now. It was just Netflix at the start... I tried the 8 minutes of watching via a web browser and it temporarily fixed it. Now it has spread to Hbo Go and Hulu. This has to be an ATV4 issue. Anyone else have any ideas?
And of course I checked the Apple TV preferences. Subtitles are OFF.
