iMovie 8 not working with El Capitain

Problems

!. iMovie 8 has lost all still images (loaded from iPhoto) under El Capitain

2. iMovie 10 can not seem to import (file-->Import iMOvie ios) projects from iMovie 8

3 iMovie 10 cant import project media

I have reinstalled both OS and iMovie 10 twice but no effect.

iMovie 10 works perfectly with photos but seems incompatible with any events or projects made with iMovie 8

Is there a solution to these problems please?

I'm sorry but I can't think of any other suggestions. the help files state that iMovie 10.1 (the most up to date help file) can update iMovie 7, 8 and 9 projects and events: Update projects and events from previous versions of iMovie in iMovie (2014) - Apple Support

What appeared in iMovie 10 after you tried to update? I assume that he two clips were imported - and the project?

The above two screen shots show what happened.

In the project there was no movie and when I tried to load the file the files I was told that were missing were darkened and could not be loaded. The files could not have been damaged because they play in iMovie 8 without the still pictures! The missing clips could not be imported. I am afraid that I have given up! Beaten by Apple software writers!
