I just got a new Macbook pro but when I plug my iPhone 5s into the USB to sync, the iPhone keeps making the charging sound by constantly beeping. therefor iTunes cannot connect to my iPhone. The iPhone behaves normally on my old Mac and when charging in a socket.....Any ideas? Turning the phone off doesn't help nor does restarting the new Mac.... Thanks!

If you need to go to the Apples Store, make sure you get two appointments back to back, that way you can get help with both the iPhone and the migration issues.

Thank you! I spoke to the Apple people today and after every other trick failed I had to wipe the new Mac clean and start fresh. The problem is now solved!!!! Many thanks to all of you for taking the time and helping me!
So what exactly did you do to resolve the issue with the usb and iPhone?
They made me do a few things like starting up in safe mode but nothing worked so I had to remove OS X and reinstall it.........But it worked. They think something went wrong during migration from the old Mac. Are you having the same problem?
Could have brought over, or corrupted, a file related to the iPhone. That's strange but I'm glad it's fixed.
still having same issue. My laptop is new and so is the iphone (couple weeks old). This past week downloaded upgrade from apple with el capitan. Don't know if it has anything to do with that as the first time I plugged my phone into the laptop was couple of days after the update.
FAI - after going through numerous calls with Apple support with no success I finally went and bought a new Apple certified charger and the problem is resolved.
My original charger that came with my phone seemed to charge the phone fine when plugged into an electrical outlet. After, the dinging noise started when plugging into the usb; I noticed my phone displaying a message (when plugged back into an electrical outlet) that the charger wasn't certified by Apple . Hence the idea to bite the bullet and buy a charger from Apple.
This is a side note regarding Apple support. Apple support individuals seem nice on the phone; the individuals I had working on the issue dropped the ball when it came to contacting me back as agreed with info. Emails and vm's didn't always work to jog the call back. I got plenty of apology's when I talked to someone new but was hoping for better support that that. A big ➖
