How do I convert mts for FCPX

My new Canon Legia HF G25 saves the clips in mts.

I would like to edit them in FCPX, and for this I need to convert them to for instance QuickTime. There are numerous suggestions as to which converter is the best, and I have tried a handful without succes - including bought versions. They either cannot convert at all or convert into something which turns out to be useless and/or severely reduced quality in FCP.

What do you recommend, all of you super FCP users? :-)

Should I try converting to another format and which converter works for you?

MacBook Pro, FCPX 10.2.3

As I said you can import into FCP< but you shouldn't. It's a garbage format in any application.

It would have been good to see the folder structure.

It looks like ClipWrap would be your best option at this stage.

Have fun with Premiere. Save often as you tiptoe between the crashes.

OK it surely is a garbage format :-)

But what would you do with MTS clips, if you had to edit them i FCP?

Not good. I would use ClipWrap.

I found out that my external hard drive is formatted as FAT32, and this is what gives me alle the problems.
