Why is the app store not updating/downloading apps

It's been over a week. I have 35 apps that need to be updated and new apps I want to downloaded...and the app store is dead...just dead and useless. I've been researching the issue and none of the solutions I have skimmed over work. How can Apple let this just drag on?

In addition, I feel like as this has been happening, my battery seems to be draining much faster than usual. I can't help but speculate that something is going on in the background of this phone and it's software related.

If my version 9.2 isn't the latest, then my phone is not letting me check for a later version software (an error comes up when checking for software updates in the settings...that little wheel just keeps spinning than up pops an error message).

If this continues, I'll have to bring my phone back and I'm seriously considering going back to Android. I'm frustrated to say the least...and about to throw this gigantic brick of a phone off of the Bay Bridge. Help!

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.2

I've been having the same issue. I couldn't update any app AND couldn't update my iPhone either. None of the solutions mentioned worked for my phone. Incidentally, my turned off my wifi, and everything changed. I was able to update my iPhone and apps without any issue. I'm not too tech savvy, but it's possible that some firewall or other software on the router blocked the update although I had service for internet on the phone.

I hope this helps.

Exactly same problem with my iPhone 6. Complete pain in the butt. Very annoyed as I am on holiday and really need to update apps for various reasons. It is a huge lesson to me to not be so dependent on Apple. Very, very unimpressed. This should not be happening and very little coming from Mother ship by way of help.

Hi Turbinator,

I'm very sorry that you're having problems with your iPhone. I can understand how it's important to update apps. Have you tried following the steps I've previously suggested to Ssimon311? You'll want to make sure you're running the latest iOS version, and if you aren't then you'll want to update to the latest iOS version. Look at the steps under "Troubleshooting attempts to resolve issues updating and installing apps" for more steps on problems with updating apps.

If you're still having problems please refer to this support article from Apple on steps you need to do to erase your device and set it up as new, or how to restore it from a backup: How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups - Apple Support. I would recommend you restore your device as a new device because if you were to restore it from a backup, you might encounter the same problems again. But please remember to back up your device first.

Of course, if you're still having problems again you can contact Apple Support or schedule an appointment at the Genius Bar

AS you see, I was also having this issue and emailed the apple support. They emailed me a list of ways to repair it. I went thru the list but it was the same. It did not help. I went to the Apple Store this weekend and there was over 100 people waiting in the store. It looked like the airport when planes are delayed due to bad weather. People were sitting on chairs, on the floor everywhere and kids running wild!! I was told to wait in a line. There was only about 10 people ahead of me so I was thinking that wasn't too bad until I get to the front of the line and find out that is where I sign up to make a reservation to get helped. Then I find out that the wait is approx 2 and 1/2 hours. I was pretty annoyed and I think the lady Could somehow tell. I did not have 2 and 1/2 hours to waste. The lady then tells me that she can have an apple support person call me. So within 2 minutes apple support calls me. I was on the phone for approx 30 minutes. Turning on different setting, turning off settings, logging out, logging in to iTunes, iCloud and finally my phone started working normal. I have no idea what really fixed it because I'm pretty sure I tried everything before. however, my phone is fixed!!! Im thinking the apple support did something from her end to repair it but who knows.

Same here, 94 app updates and waiting......... Months..... Tried ALL the above plus much more, almost 20GB of storage... Hooked up to my Mac EVERYTHING but completely wiping it out! Nothing works! What has happened to Apple? Not what it used to be... Going to android

Hi not1lost,

I'm sorry that you've been having problems with your iPhone for months. Please try following all the steps I've suggested previously. When you wiped, or erased your iPhone did you try restoring it as new? Sometimes restoring it from a backup can cause you to still have the same problems. If you're still having problems please contact Apple Support here: http://www.apple.com/support/ or schedule an appointment at the Genius bar http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/.

Dear John

Thank you for your advice. I have tried almost all the steps you suggest. I have my phone backed up and tried to erase it so that I can set it up 'as a new phone' and then restore from a previous back up. It tells me to log out of 'find my iPhone' which I try to do, but it says to log in with my Apple id first which I attempt to do, but is says there is an 'unknown error' or 'need to update your apple id password'. If, however, I log in with my Apple id elsewhere, it works (using the same password). Consequently, I cannot erase my phone, and therefore cannot restore it from a previous back up. This is all in an effort to back up Apps on my phone. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Everyone is telling me to go to Android. I am a surgeon and need to view radiology images using Osirix (only for Mac's). I would be long gone if I had an equivalent programme for a PC. Between my wife and kids, we have 1 iMac, 3 macbook pros, 2 iPads, and have had 7 iPhones. That's a lot of money to Apple for us to be abandoned so unceremoniously. Very, very frustrating and extremely annoying.

Hi Peter,

I can understand how important your iPhone can be in playing a fundamental role in your job. It sounds like you've tried doing everything I've suggested and you're still having problems. Because we've attempted to resolve the issue with several different troubleshooting options, and we're still having some problems I'd recommend you'd contact Apple Support. Have you considered, or attempted to contact Apple for support yet? If not, you can contact them here: http://www.apple.com/support/
