How do I remove a patch completely?

After applying a patch from the library, I want to remove it and have no effect at all on the channel.

Unfortunately, this seems to be impossible. After I go to the "settings" button and click on "reset channel settings" it appears to remove the name of the patch and replace it with the word "settings." But the sound is still effected. There's still a reverb or effect on the channel. I go to MIXER and I see it created some new busses - but turning them down has no effect on ridding the channel of the reverb or whateer that just will not go away.

I see the channel strip now has a BUS assigned to it, but I don't see a bus with that number in the mixer.

I'll admit I'm new to Logic X (formerly used PT) and I'm finding it to be confusing. I see nothing in the manual or on the internet concerning how to remove the patch. How do you get the channel back to its unaffected self?

Thanks.
