In the loop browser all I see are audio loops (blue). There are no software instrument loops (green)? Is this due to Apple does not supply software instrument tracks, only audio tracks

Ok so I checked my mac mini - iLife 8 and GB 8. here are software instrument tracks. I copied them over to my IMac - under AppleLoops for GarageBand. I did a reindex and now GB10.1 loops browser has the tracks.

When I select and drag the rack over, i get a error message saying EXS24 instrument not found. See attachment Image. The track is added but with Crystal Pad.esi, so no drums are played. But if I select the track and change the name to a drum kit, for example, brooklyn, the track takes on the new drum kit and I'm able to play the track with drums.

😕

Great, that you could find some software instrument loops.

There are probably some files from the instrument library that need transferring too.

Look again on your old Mac.

Open the top most Library folder on your Macintosh HD, then open "Application Support", then "GarageBand".

Check the Instrument Library.

Look for /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Instruments/Pop Kit.exs

I don't remember, if the instruments have been installed in exact that location on your older System, but check, if you can find instruments, that you would want to transfer to your new Mac.
