iMessage read reports change from read to delivered

In the last couple of weeks I've noticed that when I send an iMessage from my iPhone 6 to my best friend, it first shows as delivered, as usual. She then reads it and it'll show as read. Then I'll go back into message later and it's turned back to delivered again, as tho the imessage hasn't been read at all.

Does anybody have an idea as to why its doing this?? Or what I can do to correct this???

Thank's in advance!!

I don't know if someone already mentioned this, but I found out that it only does it when you "kill" the app (exit it out from running in the background). Also, if you turn your phone off then back on afterwards, it'll show as read again, and when you kill your app again, that particular message will never glitch and change back to "deliver". BUT, if you send another message, it shows that the person read the message, and you "kill" the app, the message will change back to saying "delivered" once again. Then turn your phone off and back on again, and it fixes. Again. And the process will repeat.

Basically if you never kill the messaging app, it will never have this glitch. But kill the app after seeing your message as read=read changes to delivered. Reset phone=problem solved.

I still don't know how to fix the issue, as Apple will probably have to get involved, but it at least explains when it happens and how to avoid it.

OK I've had this issue to for a while here's what I just did & it seemed to work. Turn iMessage off in settings, do a hard reset on the phone (holding down home button and power until you see the Apple logo), then once the phone restarts, go back to iMessage, turn it on and activate iMessage. problem should be resolved . Not for sure for how long but it worked for me. I've even close the app and come back to it and it still shows my messages read!!! Hopefully this helps you!

Its actually a fairly simple explanation. There isn't a bug with the software you can change a read receipt from "read" to only "delivered" by going back into your settings and turning the read receipts off after the message is sent. The message will then change the read receipt to just "delivered". This was probably done by the person on the other end to avoid you seeing that they read the message and then expect a response right then and there. Its actually kind of polite in a way but it saves the angst of seeing that someone read your message and didn't reply promptly.

Zae...I don't think your following the actual problem. Go back to page 1 and read the full complaint. This problem isn't that the other person is switching the read receipt off, this is truly a software issue. Look at this picture, look at the times delivered and times read.

How can a text show read at a time later than a text delivered. The last text did show read at 7:35am but then changed on its own back to just delivered. I'm really hoping with the soon release of Ios 10 this will be fixed.

I have this problem as well.. not a whole lot of my friends have their read receipts on to begin with but out of everyone that does it has done this to me as well. I know its a minor issue but it really is rather annoying. I am also using a Iphone 6+ and it doesnt seem to do it with neither my brother's 5, my dad's 5, nor my boyfriends 5. I would send a message to my boyfriend and he will read it then i will go back to it and it says delivered. Still dont know what causes it. Frustrating.
