Logic Pro X won't read or recognize my midi keyboard. How can i fix this?

Ive been using the same set up for months now with no problems and now all of sudden nothing. The keyboard is plugged into the USB port, i have tried both ports, I've tried turing restarting the computer and Logic itself and nothing seems to be working. Please respond soon this is beginning to frustrate me

Have you tried a different USB cable? The icon for your Q49 is greyed out, this means the OS does "remember" it being connected once, but it is no longer, like the CME in my screenshot. So check the cable first.

(aside: I also find it odd that your IAC driver is greyed out, I though this was on by default - but I'm not sure.)

No I didn't specifically - I just wanted to know if he was connecting directly to a USB port on his Mac or hub ( if a hub he should remove and connect the keyboard directly to make sure the keyboard is getting adequate power). Good idea to do a well. D-Macc pls try a new USB port as part of the process as recommended by Pancenter.

Yes i just tried it on a different Mac and it didn't work, I checked the Audio Midi setup and everything and it was greyed out just like it was on my Mac. The thing is though, on the keyboard their are three buttons used to go up and down octaves. When the keyboard is plugged in and i press those buttons they will light up indicating its connected and getting power. When i unplug the the cord from the Usb port (Which i did try both) it doesn't light up anymore when you press those buttons.

How long do they last? I got it less than a year ago and never dropped it or anything

Ok, I have a theory.

Some devices both Firewire and USB should not be plugged in during an Operating System upgrade. MOTU 828MkII are notorious for becoming unusable if left plugged in. The new OS will initialize both Firewire and USB as Apple always upgrades the drivers.. When the ports initialize I think they send out a bit of garbage data that messes up some units.

Try this...

Alesis Q49

Factory Reset:

Press the [MIDI/SELECT] button (the button should light up)

Then press the [RESET] key

Finally, to execute the function, press the [ENTER] button.

After performing the reset, unplug, reboot the Mac, let it settle then plug it back in.

Just follow the instructions It says it's sup[posed to light up!

All of them there's Three steps

Then press the [RESET] key

Finally, to execute the function, press the [ENTER] button.

Can't be any clearer than that.

Unplug the keyboard... reboot (Restart) THE COMPUTER!

A few things, I did exactly what you said and although it was a good idea and i thought it'd might work, it didn't. The thing is, i don't get how i can do that and it still not work. If that button lights up, The keyboard is using power which means the cable is fine. If the reset went through, which it did because the light then turned off after i pressed those commands, the keys work too. So i don't get it.
