If your phone is on LTE can you still track it even if no phone calls or text messages were made?

Say for instance I did not make any phone calls or send any text messages which would trigger the nearby cell towers can you still track where the cell phone was even if its using LTE only

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2

Thank you, I had that turned on but I did not lose my phone. Say for instance I was in an area for a short period of time (maybe an hour) and no text messages or phone calls were made would anyone be able to locate exactly where that phone was located at that time?

Please re read my reply. it still applies if you get no calls or text message.

I told you this in the other post you made regarding 2G, but for Find My iPhone to work, your device has to have had Find My iPhone activated, the device needs to be powered on, and it needs to have an active connection to the internet, whether Wi-Fi or cellular. You do not have to make a call, or text, or anything. If you know cellular technology, your phone is constantly pinging the nearby towers on a regular basis to allow the network to know your location to be able to deliver calls to you. How else do you think that the network would know what tower to route your call to?

I got myself in a bad situation with where I actually told my parents I was one night and I'm trying to prove to them where I really was. It was a few days ago now but is there any way to track that phones location? It was turned on but no calls or text messages were made at all. In other words, can you go back in time and find out where that phone was?

This should've been your original post instead of us going around in circles trying to figure what you want after we've already answered your questions.
