If your phone is on LTE can you still track it even if no phone calls or text messages were made?

Say for instance I did not make any phone calls or send any text messages which would trigger the nearby cell towers can you still track where the cell phone was even if its using LTE only

Of course not an FBI case. I just was out at a friends house and my parents don't believe that I was there and i'm trying to plead my case to them by proving to them where I was the whole night. What do you mean by "real time if you were under surveillance"?

You should sit down with your parents and talk this out, seems to be a bigger issue here that we can't help you with.

Best of luck.

Last question is there any way I can prove where my phone was on that night? Through the Verizon service provider or anything else? Can you get a stingray device?

A Stingray is something that appears to the phone to be a legitmate cell tower but isn't. Even if you could afford one, and, even if it wasn't illegal for you to use one, it would only tell you where the phone is now. An attorney can submit a subpoena to Verizon for information on what towers the phone was pinging off of at any given time. There would have to be some sort of legal reason to do this. And, you'd need to pay the attorney.

I don't think that is something the OP would want to do to explain to mom & pop, but then it took two different threads and a great deal of questions skirting around the subject before finally coming clean that the OP was in trouble at home. Go figure. 😉

I'm sure they wouldn't. Mostly, I was trying to emphasis that while it's possible, it's not practical.

Also, I had the thread open in my browser for a while and didn't realize it had moved on until I hit "Post". 😉

Exactly what I was looking for and no legal action is required for my situation but would a stingray device still pin off cell towers if my phone only uses LTE nothing else and no phone calls or text messages were made?

Unless you were under surveillance by law enforcement at the time in question or can get a lawyer to get the information for you, you can't do what you want.

You are not understanding here. This device cannot be used after the fact. There is nothing now that can give you your location from several days ago except to get an attorney to subpoena Verizon for information, and a subpoena could not be obtained without legal standing. And I'm sorry, but you have none. You have been watching too much TV.

No I was not under surveillance when I was out a few nights ago what do you mean by this?

Chris already told you what that meant like 5 post ago.

Stop asking question there is nothing you can do with your phone to show your parents where you were.

Like I said there seems to be a bigger issue here, so have a sit down with your folks. Man up.
