Touch ID Not Working after iOS 9.3 Update

My TouchID is not working, post the iOS 9.3 update yesterday. Doesn't work to unlock the phone, nor apps that use it. I disabled/enabled it. Re-setup my fingerprints, and no luck. Rebooting phone doesn't help either.

Did not backup phone prior to update. And have not tried doing a backup and restoring yet. Was hoping for a quicker/better solution (and also wanted to report this issue).

Any ideas?

Hello , facing the same issue wth huge battery drain issue , i solved it as follow :

1 - update your itunes ,

2- bauckup your data

3- restore your iphone from itunes

4 - set it as a new iphone ( do not restore from your data ) while setting it you will be able to configure your touch id ,

5 - when your iphone work as a fresh one with no date on it check if touch id is working

6- restor your bauckup

enjoy your iphone

all operation of update and restore should be executed from itunes ,

from my experience i gess it's related to old itunes backup , with phone without toch id !

I purchased an iphone 6s with 9.3.1 installed. Touch ID worked without issue. I had an issue where Software Update was showing an update was available, but when I went into it, it said I was at the latest version. Not leaving well enough alone, I went through the motions to clear that up and ended up installing 9.3.3. I did the update through the phone, not iTunes. As soon as it rebooted, Touch ID failed immediately. I reset the phone through Settings->General->Reset->Erase all content and settings and restored my backup. Touch ID failed immediately again. What ended up working for me was to connect the phone to a PC and use the iTunes Restore iPhone option. It took about an hour to download the isw file, but once restored, my Touch ID now works again. I can't say this is the end all fix, but may be worth a try. If this doesn't work, then there might be an issue with the sensor itself. Visit your local Apple Store.

Good luck.

Same issue here...my TouchID is not working after updating my iPhone 6s to iOS 9.3.3. It doesn't work to unlock the phone nor does it function in any of the apps that use TouchID. I have performed the following without success:

  • Disabled/enabled TouchID
  • Deleted Fingerprints to attempt to re-enter
  • Restarted / Rebooted iPhone
  • Reset iPhone

None of these re-enabled TouchID. Now I cannot re-enter fingerprints...I constantly get the message the TouchID setup failed. Any thoughts / suggestions would be welcome.

Why are there (seemingly) no helpful replies / solutions on here from Apple??????

I have precisely the same problem and no amount of re-setting / tinkering is having any effect. Going into 'Settings' then 'Touch ID & Passcode" is wholly pointless and completely irritating as I constantly get the "failed please try again" message. This has only happened since updating to iOS9.3
