iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

I have the same problem with mail, Safari, and messages. Links work with the gmail app. Links work in Chrome but only with a long click to get the option to open in a new tab. It appears this has happened before with 9.2.1 but I could not find an answer that fixed the problem. I do not think it started until 24 hours after the update. iPhone 6s+ 128gb 9.3.

Agree - it is slowly affecting everything I am running. An article said they had a phone and iPad they used as a test that were working fine, installed Booking.com, which I had on both my iPhone 6S and iPad2, and I deleted them. They did the same, but it didn't revert. I can get Chrome to work, but the nothing else. They are both very expensive paperweights, about to become frisbees, at this point!

WHY Apple is it taking this long to fix this? And don't you do testing or are we your test bunnies now?

So you got an answer on the 24 of march, and it was said "a patch within 2 days"...

Today the 28 of march, 4 days after this answer...

no message, no announce, no keynote LOL, not even a message... even if hundred thousands posts around this amazing issue...

Where are they? At work? I hope so... but I'm really fed up with this one way communication!

When you pay a lot for something, you could expect at least respect. At last you can understand that respect can't be sold.

I won't pay more to get answers... that shall be included.

I won't pay more to do testing... I'm currently a tester, I should be paid for that!

By the way, I did a check with my old 3GS with IOS 6.1.6. Working perfectly, so please, Apple support, read this!

This is my final contribution to your big testing plan: the current issue is related to IOS, and probably also to your PERFECT way to record the user activity by connecting to your servers on each click, drag, or whatever, in order to be able to make money with our activity.

I wish you the best for next days/months/years/decade/century, click the answer you like.

Same issue here on two devices...

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3 (13E233).

Mail crashes/freezes whenever I try to open a link from an email (com.apple.mobilemail failed to exit after 5.00s)

Safari crashes/freezes whenever I want to open an absolute URL (com.apple.mobilesafari failed to scene-update after 10.00s)

iPad mini 2 Retina, iOS 9.2.1 (13D15).

Mail crashes/freezes whenever I try to open a link from an email (com.apple.mobilemail failed to scene-update after 10.00s)

Safari crashes/freezes whenever I want to open an absolute URL (com.apple.mobilesafari failed to scene-update after 10.00s)

I tried to remove the apps mentioned in this thread like Google Maps, booking.com,... and rebooted/restarted the devices, but without success. The only thing helping is to disable Javascript, but this has of course other unwanted effects.

To browse the web, I have now switched to the Mercury browser which works as expected, while staying within the browser, following a link from Mail or Message still tries to open the link in Safari and the apps are freezing. If at least one could configure another browser than Safari, but iOS does not allow that.

Hi, my iPad Air freezes mosts apps when clicking on hypertext links. Not only in Safari, but also in Mail etc. I'cant use my iPad Air any longer for working! First I had the activation-problem when updating to 9.3, then after some days this strange new bug started.

By the way: I started with an Apple II at the end of the 70th, and over all the years I did not have such problems with my Macs, iPhones or iPads, but after Steve has gone, what did happen to Apple, Tim!

Same here (for me: on my iPad Pro / my iPhone 6). Luckily I'm still having my Windows 10 PC around, because (I'm afraid to say) right now I cannot use my iPad / iPhone at all. Even clicking on links in an eMail doesn't work / freezes up Safari / Mail.

Interestingly the problem only occured several days after I've updated to iOS 9.3. And amazing to see how such a drastic bug finds its way into the final release...

Hi,

Same issues as everyone here (links broken in safari, email, message, ... safari freeze when holding down on link, ... )

On iPhone 5s IOS 9.3.

The problem started Sunday 27th at exactly 11:00 am (French Time) 5:00 am Eastern Time (ET) , literally, as I was doing some searches on Google,

one moment it works, the next second all links were broken.

Disabling Java helps a little, nothing else is helping.

I have an iPad Air 2 on iOS 9.3 as well. It is still working at the moment. ... I am a bit afraid to use it though :-)

I m sitting tight ... I have to go on a trip in a few days, with all email, booking, ... on my iPhone.

I hope it will be fixed by then. I can t imagine the mess if something like that happens when you're away and fully relying on your

phone or tablet. Hope no one is in this situation.

C'mon Apple ...
