iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

I have the same problem with mail, Safari, and messages. Links work with the gmail app. Links work in Chrome but only with a long click to get the option to open in a new tab. It appears this has happened before with 9.2.1 but I could not find an answer that fixed the problem. I do not think it started until 24 hours after the update. iPhone 6s+ 128gb 9.3.

Google links on safari and chrome suddenly stopped working on my iphone and I see I'm far from alone. I have found that I can open links on Chrome by holding the link and then choosing to view it in incognito mode. Strangely this doesn't work if you select incognito mode in the first place. This is really weird.

That's the nub of the problem. Regardless of Apple patting themselves on the back for giving 9.3 seven beta versions, it clearly should've at least been eight. I found out within five minutes of upgrading to 9.3 that the links didn't work so Apple don't tell me you weren't aware. As I've already said, the launch of 9.3 should've simply been delayed until the problem was resolved.

What was the rush? Was the world going to stop rotating on its axis if 9.3 was launched when it was? Is Night Shift crucial to the furtherance of humanity and the solving of the Syrian crisis?

What a pitiful state of affairs, all of Apple's own making. A classic example of how to alienate and infuriate your core customer base.

I've done that a few times and it worked every time restored as new. But not everyone can afford to start clean because without doing a restore from iTunes backup, I am losing thousands of iMessages. The problem could come back because my phone worked in 9.3 for a week until the problem started yesterday.

I don't have this problem, but third party apps can hijack Safari web pages. You can see this by opening a web page in Safari, triggering Siri and saying "remind me of this later". If Siri creates a reminder for a third party app, then that app is hijacking Safari. You can try deleting that app and repeating this until the reminder is not created for a third party app.

I sent a reply, in Spanish, if it works until it reaches a solution. The problem also occurs in IOS 9.2.1. Regards

Buenas tardes.
