iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

I have the same problem with mail, Safari, and messages. Links work with the gmail app. Links work in Chrome but only with a long click to get the option to open in a new tab. It appears this has happened before with 9.2.1 but I could not find an answer that fixed the problem. I do not think it started until 24 hours after the update. iPhone 6s+ 128gb 9.3.

ok guys looking at the thread the only thing Apple is suggesting is a rest of the factory settings which of course is an unacceptabke answer. someone suggested the Booking.com App creates the problem. i deleted the App restarted the phone and had the same problem so that is no solution. I am not a techy but I think the problem originates from an App conflict as my wife has exactly the same phone (6/64) with s lot feeer Apps installed and no issue.

To make Safari work again go to settings and disable Java in the advanced safari settings. This of course is a temporary solution as you will not be able to login towebsires including this one. I am using Puffin to write this post. This will not solve the problem with Mail however which will continue to freeze.

Now let's speak of Apple. I bought my first mac in 1987 and continued to buy Macs even when Steve was kicked out and they were selling crappy products with a lousy operating system. With what Apple is charging for its products today these kind of os bugs are unacceptable and the lack of an official statement is not only unacceptable but an insult to its customers new or old they may be. I hope at keast they will have the decency to deliver an ios upgrade by April 2 which is the date given by Apple support to someone in this Forum.

I dowloaded iOs 9.2.1 through

Installed this .ipsw file in iTunes

Hold the Alt key (on Mac OS X) / the Shift key (on Windows) and hit “restore” in iTunes

iOs Restore went ok but all data is gone from the iPhone 😟 😟

Restore from backup does not work because the latest backup was with iOs 9.3 😟 😟

On my iMac I restored the MobileSync backup folder (1 day before upgraging to 9.3) via Time Machine (~\library\Application Support\MobileSync\Backup\)

Long live Time Machine!!!

Now I could restore my iPhone from backup 🙂 🙂

Everything works fine again 🙂 🙂 🙂

Waiting for the upgrade

SOme people can't really do that since we use OTA backup to icloud...

I stopped using a pc to do my backups years ago because I keep changing laptops practically every month or so (work related, gotta keep up with the latest and greatest tech) and I was just chewing through my activated devices faster than apple could release them.

This debacle only accentuates the truth, sonce SJ died, Apple is taking too many shortcuts and using its users to become testers like Microsoft was doing a couple years ago. I am really thinking about switching to windows phone or even android if this issue isn't solve THIS WEEK!!

I have lost en contracts and money as it is now. Either apple cover my loss from today until they find a solution or they offer us a big rabate/compasation for all the problems that this has caused us!
