iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

I have the same problem with mail, Safari, and messages. Links work with the gmail app. Links work in Chrome but only with a long click to get the option to open in a new tab. It appears this has happened before with 9.2.1 but I could not find an answer that fixed the problem. I do not think it started until 24 hours after the update. iPhone 6s+ 128gb 9.3.

Okay, let’s stop with the caterwauling and “very annoying” comments. Of course it is. Apple has acknowledged the issue and will be releasing iOS 9.3.1 soon according to their press release. Piling on isn’t going to make it happen any sooner. Every reputable tech website has been reporting Apple’s response to this issue today. Keep your shirts on, open a cold beer, sit back and relax.

I hope this brings someone some solice. I've been plagued by this since the 9.3 update too. I've managed to get my iPhone working again by deleting the booking.com app, closing all of my apps and resetting my network settings in Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.

After that, Chrome, Safari, iMessages and Mail links work again.

Try this workaround:

1- restore the phone to an earlier back up

2- on the first start after restoration, it will start downloading all the apps that you had previously

3- find Booking app and remove it before it starts downloading

this is based on the assumption that Booking is the rogue app that breaks the system. Works for me.

Good luck 🙂

Let's be clear that this is not just an iPhone 6s problem. My iPhone 6 is having the same problems:

1. Clicking a link in any Apple Mail document just freezes the whole phone--- meaning you need to close Mail before it releases its grip.

2. And in any browser, in this case Chrome or Safari, choosing a link by 'long clicking' will allow you to open a second tab to see the link--- but only after you go to the top of the screen and choose the 'overlapping windows' icon which will expose the open tabs. The one you want is 'blank' at the bottom of the queue.

This has gone on way too long! People have had problems ever since they downloaded 9.3-- and that was nearly weeks ago! Where's the service, people? We aren't asking for the moon, like the Feds are in asking for the can opener to the iPhone! Just fix the bug and issue an update already! Thanks!
