Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

Then restart your iPad and see if you have 3G.

If that didn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Network Settings

Then restart you iPad one more time.

Same problem as others on upgrading my iPad2 from 9.2.1 to 9.3.1 - showing "No Service".

Many thanks for the suggestions from contributors here. Two of the suggested workrounds were OK for me:

(1) remove and re-insert the SIM card while the iPad is on

(2) turn off Mobile Data (Cellular), power down iPad, restart iPad, turn on Mobile Data (Cellular)

However powering down iPad with Mobile Data ON and then powering up causes the iPad to go back into the "No Service" mode.

I agree with the comments about Apple's shortcomings on this - if you mess with something, then you need to test it afterw

But if you power off and then power on you will find it gone again and you have to redo the following work around.1. power off and remove SIM card. Then power back on and it will ask for SIM card. insert sim and it should find the network.

I spent 4 hours trying a variety of solutions presented here and elsewhere on the web. Your solution worked for me on a iPad 2 and iOS 9.3.1

I sent a message to Tim to have you promoted directly to level VI. (This may never happen.)

Hi,

None of the above for me in Australia. The following procedure works Everytime.

  1. Change APN by adding a character (1 character works for me)
  2. Turn off mobile data
  3. Ensure ipad has disassociated from service provider
  4. Turn on mobile data
  5. Change APN by removing extra characters added in step 1
  6. Turn off mobile data
  7. Ensure ipad has dissociated from service provider
  8. Turn on mobile data

Should be good to go now. I have an ipad2 with the latest 9.3.2 upgrade. Same process will probably work for ios8 too, but not tested.
