text message notifications not appearing on iPhone 6

When I receive a text message on my phone, I do not get a notification or the sound I've associated with texts. This started on my iPhone 5 two weeks ago and it continued with my new iPhone 6s. In the notification center I have "Allow Notifications" on, as well as, "Lock Screen" and "Show Previews." Since its continued into the new phone I'm certain I'm missing something in the settings but I can't figure out what could be.

That was me. Notifications for texts were somehow off, even though I don't remember doing that. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to turn off "SILENCE While iPhone is Locked" in the Do Not Disturb Setting? It seems to only give you the option of "SILENCE While iPhone is Locked" or "SILENCE Always".
