iOS 9.3 failed verification - no internet connection

I am trying to update my iPhone 5s to iOS 9.3 as prompted by my phone.

The new software has been downloaded but this message popped up when I was trying to install it. The message says, " iOS 9.3 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet". This occurred whilst my phone is on stable wifi internet connection with me being able to browse on safari and having messages coming in and out of my messaging apps and mailbox. Besides, I can even email the terms and conditions of the iOS 9.3 update on the install page to my email address (i.e. internet gotta be working then).

I have tried several methods as suggested by others in the past i.e. 1) Killing the settings app and restart the process again and 2) Resetting my network settings. Unfortunately, none of these methods work for me and the phone is still coming up with the same error message when I try to install the update.

It would be appreciated if someone can shed some light on this please.

Thanks in advance.

So I've done this, deleted the faulty update, and restarted my iPad as somebody else mentioned, now I've got the iOS 9.2.1 You're software is up to date. Even though it's supposed to be 9.3, by the looks of things, and I've still got the "1" on the software update bit, suggesting there's something to update. Am I in the right place to sort this out or have I gone wrong somewhere??

Hi,

I experienced the same things and I have managed to update to 9.3 by deleting the downloaded package. Go to settings>General>Storage&iCloud Usage>Manage Storage>you will see the downloaded 9.3, select that>delete.

My 5S then will check again for software update. Notice that it shows Download & Install instead of Install only. Select that and it will ask for your passcode. Let it run until complete depending on your internet speed (mine took about 5 minutes and I did not let the screen change). Once complete, it should verifying and automatically installed.

Hope it helps.

Cheers! 🙂

I had this same problem on my iPad 2. I saw on another site the suggestion to delete the update, then try again, and it worked. I went to Settings, General, Storage & iCloud Usage. Tap Manage Storage and wait for the list to be populated. Scroll through it until you see Software Update, select this entry and tap Delete Update.

Once I did that I was able to go back into General, Software Update, and it downloaded with no trouble.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the detailed explanation, but I have a slightly different problem. I have an iPad 3 that's still running 5.1 (I got it from a family member who never really used it). So when I follow your directions to Settings ---> General ---> Storage, there is no option for Manage Storage. There IS that option under Cloud Storage, but I've never used Cloud Storage so it's greyed out anyway. The Storage list shows the long list of apps, but nowhere does it show me the problematic 9.3 version to delete (it keeps telling me I'm not connected to the Internet, which I now realize is Apple's way of not letting me download faulty 9.3 iOS), nor does it show me Manage Storage. Perhaps because I have such an old iOS?

Any ideas? Thanks!

Rob

I spoke to Apple support twice yesterday to help solve the same problem with a new iPad Pro. The first call, I was advised to update iTunes and then download the iOS update while connected to my MacBook. That failed to sort it out. On the second call I was told (by a different tech) that there is an issue within the iPad Pro software which is causing the problem. The advice was that Apple is working on update iOS 9.3.3 which will address the problem. No estimated release date - could be days, weeks or - ? Now a matter of wait and see.k
