Google links don't work after iOS 9.3

After update to iOS 9.3 on my iPhone 6 Plus I can no longer click on search links from Google anymore. Tried both in Safari and Chrome. Works well with Bing.com.

If I hold down on the link and choose to open in new tab it works.

restarted apps -> same result

Rebooted iPhone twice -> same result.

suggestions?

I Have the sAmerica issues after upgrading to iOS 9.3 last night on my iPhone 6. Called customer service tech support and at first they denied having an issue with iOS 9.3 and that they are not aware of one. Then the guy comes back after I sent him the link to this page with people comparing about this issue and said that they were made aware of this issue 15 minutes ago. Bull.

My business depends on me having working email and internet on my iPhone all the time so I needed to find a solution.

Here is a temporary (or permanent up to you) workaround which seems to give a 99.9% solution:

Download e-mail client: Google Inbox (NOT GMAIL client)

Download browser client: Google Chrome

All links seem to work using the above solution.

A small number of links in Chrome require opening in a new tab.

Please indicate if this helped you.

9.2.1 - been on that since shortly after it came out.

Started happening yesterday morning 26th March. It was definitely ok on 25th March.

No changes/updates my end, other than whatever apps may have auto-updated themselves.

So Apple must have secretly/silently changed something/somewhere. Unless there was a date/time based bug just waiting to happen......

Apple seem very tight-lipped on this issue!

I was going to say I will NEVER install new Apple software when prompted in future until I'm sure Apple are not using its customers to test it! However, I did find a way to revert to 9.2.1 but, even with disabling Java, the problem persists and more and more functionality is being lost as the day goes on. Are Apple being honest with us? Has their operating system been hacked? Now both my iPhone 5S and my iPad Mini 2 are useless. My iPhone is due an upgrade - I'm seriously considering ditching it and going to Samsung - tablet too. My partner was going to buy a new iPad but he's not going to risk it now.

I have a 6s and this latest upgrade is so reminiscent of Microsoft that it is making me think of moving to another product line. What were the Apple engineers thinking? It is classic incompetence as in oh let's not mention to our bosses, who will go crazy, that we should not rush the upgrade because this will mess up every possible "smart" use of an iPhone. I mention classic incompetence ... go check out On the psychology of military incompetence -- things get messed up because there is a refusal of higher ups to listen to 'bad news' - frankly this just shows me ... Apple has become too big to fail .... someone needs to toss a hammer though their window and wake the 1% boys/girls racking up the big bucks.

I think there's a bigger issue here. Initially Apple said it was the 9.3 upgrade that was the problem and have pulled it so I am unable to restore my back-up - thanks Apple! However, this issue is also affecting 9.2.1 and appeared to start yesterday, regardless of the iOS you are running. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a cyber attack and Apple covering their butts with the iOS excuse?

I love how I found the review of the ios 9.3 update on cnet(I think it was cnet) and they said it was one of the BEST updates ever researched by Apple using many months of BETA testing. Who are these idiots beta testing that cant see two of the most important features (mail/safari) of the phone lock up on even newer phones? My phones- iphone 6+ 128gb-has the issues mentioned - My other iphone 6S 64gb works flawlessly with the update. I feel your pain who have added to this thread.

I have ios 9.2.1 and it worked fine for a few minutes this morning, then suddenly stopped working. Therefore, this is not a 9.3 issue.

It began in email in a newsletter -- clicking a link would bring up the browser. But then after a while, the links in the browser would no longer work. I switched to Opera and Chrome -- same thing.

Vector ==> email?

This link issue is the worst. My 6s is barely usable. not only do links not work, clicking on them in safari or the mail app locks up my 6s. Funny that links are fine on my Ipad2 and my wives 5c. This needs to be addressed immediately. This is used for work. already rebooted multiple times, disabled Java. having to do system restore is not an option we should have to resort to! Here we are Sunday morning and click links in any webpages, not just Googles. How did this get past Beta?

Mar 27, 2016 10:41 AM in response to Barango

I just updated to 9.3 ... it had no effect on this problem.

Since I had not updated iOS code when I discovered the problem this morning, the only changes to my iPhone 6 Plus since last night have been a single email, two pages browsed, and app updates last night. Since updating to iOS 9.3 had no effect, then 1) a recent change is the culprit, affecting something that remains after an iOS update that is still impaired, or 2) something occurred some time ago that is common to those that have this problem, and it was set to 'happen' this weekend.

Like most people, the browser and email are by far the two top uses; if these are compromised and nonfunctional, this phone is nearly useless.

I had *exactly* the same problem. It occurred yesterday on my 9.2.1 iOS version.

I thought an upgrade to 9.3 would fix it, but unfortunately, it did not.

What solved the issue with me is setting the date back to 25 March (Settings -> General -> Date and Time and disable automatic time, then set the date to 25 March), then open safari back again and clicking links are working again.

After that I set the date to automatic again and it still works, so it seems that this will fix the problem.

So, I hope this will work for you guys too!!

Same problem here, hitting a link causes Safari to crash. My wife's iPad 3 worked well with 9.3, so I decided to update my Iphone 6plus... This is really bad, this makes my iPhone completely useless for internet searching! Shame on you Apple! Hasn't this been tested? All Apple staff carry iPhones - hundreds of iPhones and no one had this problem? Can't believe it! Hopefully this will be solved soon.
