For those having problems with the iOS 9.3 update please read...

So many people are having problems with the update to iOS 9.3 and the questions are flooding the iOS support forums now. I am hoping that by consolidating some of the information available, it will help some of you without starting hundreds of new threads all asking about the same things.

Please do not shoot the messenger if you already know all of this. I am just trying to help by providing some information To the community. Theses problems are well known, Apple has acknowledged them and is reportedly working on a fix that should be out soon.

Here are some tech site articles that explain the problems if any of you are interested in reading them. They are in no particular order other than what my most recent Google search turned up for me.

Apple posted these support articles a couple of days ago and they might help some of you as well

If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If you can’t activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after you update to iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If nothing suggested works for you right now, you will just have to be patient (remember that "please don't shoot the messenger" thing from above ) and wait until Apple issues the fixed software update.

That's great that Apple is "working on it", but in the meantime our devices are worthless other than for game. Email links are a VERY big deal for those of us on the road.

That being said, do you know of a way to revert back to the pre 9.0s1 software?

Thanks for taking the time to post those links. It is disappointing that Apple doesn't have these on their website.

If you cannot find it where bobseufert mentions where it is in his post above, then the update file is likely not residing on the device. Are you sure iOS 9.3 hasn't already been installed? Check under Settings/General/About and look under "Version". If it says 9.3, then it has already been installed on your device. In this case, there is nothing to delete as iOS updates cannot be "deleted" after they have already been installed (the update file is deleted after installation and the updated iPad itself cannot be reverted back to a previous iOS version))

If your iOS version is lower than 9.3 and you do not have the update file where bobseufert indicates that it would be, then you have nothing to worry about as your iOS version is not yet 9.3 and the update file is not on your device.

27 March: Prompted to update iOS9.3 to my iPAD2. Ignored.

28 March: Prompted again. Ignored and read internet on topic, knew about bug.

29 March: Prompted again. Ignored but learned that Apple fixed it

30 March: Prompted again. So I updated. (without backup)

I cannot even restore it via my OLD Macbook 13 and old itunes 11.4 (maxed out)

4 hours of trying, then installed new itunes on my Windows 10 PC.

I went to bed at 2am, got up at 6am. iPAD2 still bricked. .

FAIL

then i tried again to restore and it did it in 5 mins. Must be US servers. Now they are sleeping (I am in Zurich).

Then I have a blank iPAD2 with the greatest iOS9.3 updated.

puih!

asap I am buying something NON-apple.

iOS 9.3 hasn't already been installed and my ipad crash every time I open the mail, a link in safari and so on. I am so ****** off:(((

You said :"If your iOS version is lower than 9.3 and you do not have the update file where bobseufert indicates that it would be, then you have nothing to worry about as your iOS version is not yet 9.3 and the update file is not on your device.". That’s not my case. My software version shows IOS 9.3 and it don’t show up where bobseufert indicates. Instead, my husband never installed the new version and on his device I can see it. What the **** is that?

Please re-read my post...

But I'll try to explain this again...

There are two references to iOS 9.3 being discussed here:

1. The actual iOS 9.3 update file that is downloaded from Apple to update the existing iOS on the device

2. The iOS version that the device is currently running (shown under Settings/General/About and look under "Version")

If your iPad's software version says 9.3, then iOS 9.3 is already installed on your iPad. The iOS 9.3 update file mentioned by Bob will NOT be on your iPad. You cannot "delete" the iOS that is already installed on the iPad and you cannot go back to a previous iOS version.

If your husband never installed iOS 9.3 on his iPad, then the iOS 9.3 update file if downloaded WILL be "on his device and you can see it". In this case, iOS 9.3 is NOT installed on his iPad. You can delete the iOS 9.3 update file shown where Bob indicates it will be (Settings/General/Storage & iCloud Usage/Manage Storage (find it in the list that is shown, tap it, then tap "Delete App"))

I tried getting Demo's thread pinned to the top or at least a link to it. I checked out the ES-ASC today and they had the message below pinned at the top. We sure could use your help iver there.. The high-lighing was caused by the Bng translator.

If you can not activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing a software update, follow the steps listed here (Latin America) or here (Spain).

If you can not activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after installing iOS 9.3, follow the steps here.
