For those having problems with the iOS 9.3 update please read...

So many people are having problems with the update to iOS 9.3 and the questions are flooding the iOS support forums now. I am hoping that by consolidating some of the information available, it will help some of you without starting hundreds of new threads all asking about the same things.

Please do not shoot the messenger if you already know all of this. I am just trying to help by providing some information To the community. Theses problems are well known, Apple has acknowledged them and is reportedly working on a fix that should be out soon.

Here are some tech site articles that explain the problems if any of you are interested in reading them. They are in no particular order other than what my most recent Google search turned up for me.

Apple posted these support articles a couple of days ago and they might help some of you as well

If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If you can’t activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after you update to iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If nothing suggested works for you right now, you will just have to be patient (remember that "please don't shoot the messenger" thing from above ) and wait until Apple issues the fixed software update.

You're wekcome. There is a new marking system for future use. If 5 users tap "this helped me" it gets marked helpful. A very ingenious idea. 🙂

I Always forget about that little nugget. Every once in a while I get the email notification for the "you helped..." And when I go to the discussion, it might be one that is three years old and then it hits me. Oh, yeah, 5 more "this helped me".

Help is always welcome here. The more the merrier. I joined ASC in December 2005 when I bought my first iMac. I had a couple of questions (which never were answered 😁) and then didn't come back to start participating actively in October of 2010 when I bought my first iPad. I came here looking for some tips and and had a couple of questions, and 5-1/2 years later here I am still helping and really enjoying it.

There are are so many knowledgable people here. I have learned more than I have helped.

Nobody here works for Apple, but I assume form the smiley emotion, you realize that.

What ColB007 posted is standard troubleshooting for a worst case scenario on any iOS device. I applaud ColB007 for outlining and posting the steps here. Many people doesn't see this as a solution, but rather view it as something they should not have to go through. I have been snapped at for suggesting the same thing. Sometimes, it takes a good bit of work to make things right again.

Good job ColB007!

I Am glad I have an eye witness to what is happening on my iPad. After I reported that my iPad Air was working fine until the latest build, I had reset iPad, turned wifi off, turned iwifi back on and then set airplane mode. When those didn't work, I reset network. As I am on the road I could not restore. None of this worked.

NOw is when it gets weird. appx 24 hours after installing last build, I woke up iPad Air and yahoo email links were working and videos were downloading

and not blurry. I started to report this miracle but decided to wait. Worked great all day yesterday.

i put it to sleep and charged it overnight. Yahoo email links working sporadically and again have blurry pictures and blurry videos on youtube. Same problems encountered 48 hour ago. So I just did a reset (turned off and left it for an hour). Now, everything working again.

I was a mainframe software designer, programmer, analyst and this is weird to me.

I tried getting Demo's thread pinned to the top or at least a link to it. I checked out the ES-ASC today and they had the message below pinned at the top. We sure could use your help iver there.. The high-lighing was caused by the Bng translator.

If you can not activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing a software update, follow the steps listed here (Latin America) or here (Spain).

If you can not activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after installing iOS 9.3, follow the steps here.

To clarify the location(s) of the PINs at ES-ASC... I found them ONLY on iDevice forums lists = NOT community wide = should be community wide since getting where one really needs to be is sometimes beyond some folks ability to properly navigate the UX designed by non-users of the forums

It appears that "weird" is the "new normal" 👿

Yep. Our buddy Bob reminded me of that earlier this morning in this thread. 😉

The "UNthreading" (reducing a thread to FLAT instead of my preferred threaded view) of long threads has long caused this for me.. my preferred WorkFlow is to go through earliest to latest in email notices and answer (or not) - this is likely not the last time that AppleJiveWare will confound us in some way or another!

Downgrade to 9.2.1 remains an option.

I struggled with the links issue for hours yesterday w clients iPad Air 2, which had Bookings.com app installed. Published fixes got Safari going (suspect mostly disabling JavaScript) but mail still crashes with links, battery drain still seems excessive. No fix for me, and yes, I did wash, rinse and repeat. Twice.

I was able to TWICE successfully downgrade to 9.2.1 (last time around 11pm MDT on 3/30) so code signing, contrary to posts here on 3/28, is once again enabled. Sadly, I had no pre 9.3 backups, and while editing the info.plist file in the latest 9.3 backup made the backup visible under 9.2.1, it would not actually install, w iTunes reporting 'corrupted backup' or words to that effect. Restoring the info.plist file allowed me to restore running 9.3. Bug still present.

It has been ironic to find puff press to the effect that the 9.3 rollout was remarkably successful overall, while being unable to help a client with a crippled iPad.
