Just received my new iPad Pro 9.7". It came with ios 9.3 and I believe the battery widget was present..I recall seeing the battery of the Apple Pencil when I initially setup.
I quickly upgraded to 9.3.1 and now do not see battery widget. I do have Bluetooth device paired, the Apple Pencil which works fine but no battery widget. Not sure if this is an iOS 9.3.1 problem or not.

Restarting has not solved the problem for me. There simply is no battery widget available in the list of widgets. It WAS there before I upgraded to 9.3.1. I have also tried unpairing and repairing the Pencil with my Pro 9.7. The Pencil works, but I have no way of checking the battery, and there is simply no widget available to turn on.
Pairing brought my lost widget for checking battery back.
You just have to use the Apple Pencil once in a while. The battery widget only shows up when the Pencil is active and not asleep.
I suspect this is an issue for iPad Pro 9.7" only. For some reason the battery widget seems to be unavailable for iPad Pro 9.7" in iOS 9.3.1. I have restarted, and unpaired and re-paired Pencil, but there is no Battery widget available to add to the notifications screen. Sounds like that is the same issue for at least 2 others who posted here.
If anyone is using an iPad Pro 9.7" with iOS 9.3.1 that DOES have a working Battery widget, please post here. Thanks.
I do and the widget works most of the time.
Our iPad Pro 9.7" with iOS 9.3.1 battery widget has been working fine since it was paired. The one time the widget went away was when the pencil became un-paired for some unkown reason.
Widget worked on my 9.7" 9.3.1 until I rebooted yesterday. It has disappeared since then, is not in the widget list, and rebooting and repairing didn't bring it back. Looks like a bug in 9.3.1.

I installed yesterday an app which has a widget (Microsoft OneNote), and noticed this morning that the battery widget is back.
Can/did someone else try the same?
I just updated to 9.3.2 and the widget and disappeared and I found this thread and it helped me - restarted and plugged my pencil in to recharge and all of a sudden there I all was! Thanks for the help.
I Had to use a hard reboot.
where is the battery life widget for the iPad Pro pencil
On the widgets side of the notifications.
Go to Home Screen > pull down from the top of the screen.
Will only show up if you have bluetooth turned on and the pencil is nearby.
If you turn bluetooth off you my have to reconnect the pencil by plugging it in.
Easy check: Settings Bluetooth ~ My devices > Apple Pencil. > Connected

Mine disappeared as well. Software version 9.3.4 was up to date, rebooted, and no change. Plugged the pencil into the iPad charger and widget re-appeared.
