Tryed deleting photos cache, restored iPhone, even formated my MacBook Pro (clean install El Capitan)

Tryed syncing with photos.app, still the same result !!!!

Never had this problem before !!!!!

Submited feedback to apple...NO response!!!

Seems to be an Apple bug. After filling a bug report at http://bugreport.apple.com/, I was asked to identify the photo that causes the sync to stop, in order to provide more information about the photo metadata . (Camera type or screenshot, file format etc.). Right now I'm trying to identify the photo by selectively syncing. However my free time is short right now, so this will take a while. If somebody already found out which photo stops the sync, please report to Apple so that they can fix this bug quickly.

There appears to be a bug int he import process that stops it prematurely when it encounters certain JPG files - I had 5 or 6 problem files out of 13,700. After resaving the problem files, the import process now works perfectly again. The difficulty, obviously, is locating the problem files - but it can be done by importing a directory at a time then running through smaller subgroups when you find a problem directory.

Neither my iPad Pro 9.7" nor my iPhone 6S Plus would sync. All the photos on there were either taken by this iPhone or a previous or iPad mini 2 or were screenshots. Syncing was no issue prior to El Capitan update on my MacBook Pro. Has to be something to do with new El Capitan software update. There has to be some sort of a bug in there. It syncs really quickly until it gets to photos and then it just sits there endlessly.

I Thought by not doing a backup restore on my iPad Pro I would have less problems but that obviously was not the case

couldn't agree more. It's always the same issue. Every time when I made an itunes or ios update I have to delete ipod cache folder and sync the photos from the beginning. I've got 4 ios devices and I have to sync all photos from beginning for all these 4 devices and it's not 100 photos at least 11000 photos for each device. it's so annoying and makes me angry because apple just ignore this bug problem and because of that it cost me my time and my nerves every time. WHY should I have to erase some folder, restart computer/ios device or restore the device every time to make this works? It's not right!

I Am still having trouble syncing my new iPad Pro and iPhone to my MacBook as it just sits there endlessly unable to sync my photos. Gets stuck on importing and then iTunes crashes and closes app on my MacBook. All was fine until I upgraded to El Capitan which was the start of all these problems. Recently iPhone crashes often too which it did not do before prior to sync problems and update.

Finally, I used search function in Aperture to filter out all files not being JPEG or supported RAW. These include: Video, TIFF (created when using external editors), PNG (screen captures). I removed all these files from the albums to be synced. The originals are still in projects. Then the photo album sync works normally.

The current version of iTunes is very buggy and is hostile toward many files which were tolerated by previous versions. I have another recent example. I have a 1.5 hours MP3 relaxation music (~ 100MB) to sync to my iPhone. iTunes invariably crashes and quits when attempting to sync. Finally, I converted the MP3 to M4A in iTunes. The sync is then fine.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for kind reply. I do have quite a bit of screenshots and if this is an issue then Apple needs to address this issue with a software update for their syncing. I do not have Arpeture that I know of but could download it if it can be downloaded. Is there a way to search for all these in the MacBook? Does Arpeture search do a search of what is in Arpeture or what is in the PhOtis app/file on the computer?

I had the exact same problem with my new iPad Pro 9.7" I eventually got it solved-

I traced it down to a photo which I had renamed. The name of the file included two commas and an ampersand (&) character. I copied the original file, renamed it in the Finder (deleting the commas and ampersand), deleted it in my Photos App, and re-imported it. After that, all my photos synced to my iPad Pro through iTunes.
