Garageband 10.1.1 Issue

Hi, I recently updated Garageband and now instruments from MainStage 3 no longer appear. I can't find Garageband's instrument library anywhere. I've tried Library/Application Support/Garageband and Library/Application Support/Logic (I do not own Logic Pro). Please help !

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

This is a nightmare, probably not helped by the fact that i do not know what i am doing

I had garageband 6.0.5 and download the Garageband 10.1.0 (i think) about 6 months ago when i upgraded the mac to Yosemite, then i downloaded MainStage 3 and downloaded all the jam packs and anything else that looked like instruments

it all went on ok and went straight onto garageband along with all the sounds from the version 6 under legacy-garageband

The other day i run the 10.1.1 update, did not really notice much difference (i think the sounds were still there but not really sure) although it is hard to tell sometimes with so many instruments on there. i think all the instruments were still there so then i downloaded everything else in MainStage 3 (alchemy sound libraries for example at 12.94 gb which took 5 hours) even though i was not sure what it all was. I also downloaded from garageband all available sounds

Then i noticed that although the instruments are still on the songs i have done they are missing from the side menu (and these are the ones i have used most such as sparkle synth and British combo synth lead

i tried re-installing sound library in garageband last night and nothing changed as far as i could see apart from it duplicated a lot of the drum loops

I notice as well that i am getting on some sounds the exs24 message, i used to get this message months ago and then it disappaered and instead i got no alchemy since on some instruments (which has now disappeared i assume with all the instruments it could not play anyway)

To make it worse i got a message from my internet provider last night that i have used up all my 20gb of data for the month in 3 days

Not sure what to do, i tried what jackleg said but can even find the same pathway as she/he have used

nightmare

Open Finder and find the MainStage 3 app in /Applications, then, in a separate window, find the GarageBand app at the same location. Right click on each one and select "Show Package Contents". This will open up the app bundle. Find the "Patches" folder in Contents/Resources in both apps, then copy the folders from MainStage 3's Patches folder into GarageBand's. Then restart GarageBand and you should get your instruments back.

Hello Celeb-P

Thanks for your help

I could not open both at once so i copied the patches folder from MainStage into garageband patches folder and it showed them being moved (about 2900 of them) Re started garageband and no difference, then re-started computer just in case but still no difference, tried again same thing happened

Then i copied the actual instruments folder from MainStage to garageband and re-started and that seems to have done the trick (that is probably what you meant anyway)

even the instruments that previously could not be used due to getting the no alchemy message are now also playing so i am well happy

just need to fathom out how to get rid of all the duplicated drum loops (had about 4500 drum loops until i re-installed sound library last night and now have 6182)

Fortunately i prefer the drummer although i do like some of the new drum loops it has downloaded, it seems to have put them into sets now instead of trying to link together individual loops that fit

Regards
