iPad Pro 9.7 Random Restart

Normally wouldn't think much of this but, I have a 2 day old iPad Pro 9.7 128GB that has restart on me twice so far. In the middle of using it, it will cut to the Apple logo on the black background for a minute before returning to the passcode screen. Oddly enough, it will accept Touch ID in place of a passcode, something it doesn't usually do when it loses power. Any idea on the cause or how to figure it out? I chatted with the tech support but they only help they could provide was to do a restore. I just performed it, but my concern is that I installed an app or enabled something causing the iPad to crash and it'll simply continue to do that due to the bad app.

My random restarts stopped with 10.2 but this ipad has multiple problems. The only things the techs can tell you to do is to factory reset. The problems keep changing. One time it was freezing and now pages in Safari turn white. Apple won't admit that these ipads are defective. They will do nothing except factory resets. How many times do you need to reset the iPad to get it to work for awhile until Apple admits there is a problem..They won't admit any of their products are defective.

it's definitely software. it happens on way too many 9.7" ipad pros. it's some sort of hw incompatibity, but that does not mean hw. fault. Apple needs to sort out what is causing it. It is likely a driver level issue in ios. Because it happenss usually when.safari is used, it is likely comms related. Mine seems stable in 9.3.5. don't ask, doesn't make sense. I mean it's weird 9.3.5 fixed it for me, and others report the bug still in 10.0.1. - unless - iOS 10 does not inherit the 9.3.5 source code. (which actually is possible). But then again I think there are some people reporting the crashes on 9.3.5. Mine is stable, did not have a crash since i installed 9.3,5. As I said I had javascript disabled in safari for like 2!weeks, then i re-enabled javascript in safari and still no crashes.

I had safari disabled for a while and beeen using Chrome. No crashes with safari disabled. So, i propose the following...those of us who say have this sorted, let's post here as soon as we have a crash. I am on 9.3.5, no crashes since i have installed it - and I do use safari all the time. As soon as i get. a crash, i will report it here. i am playing the waiting game with ios 10

I have had so many different answers from tech support that it seems no one knows what story to use. The latest was from the Genius Bar (I was there for my iphone 6plus.) I was told that it was my app that caused it. I was playing Spider Solitaire and it happened when I touched a card. When I went back to the App the had I was playing was gone. It seems they are putting the blame on the consumer not Apple. Looking online I found reports of random restarts going back to 2010. I am sure I do not have the full list. Seems like they do not know how to solve the problem or do not care. It seems strange that some IPad Pro 9.7 are working and others not. Why??

Yes, that's the same here. I've been crashing an average of two times a day since they first came out. But, I haven't had a crash since installing iOS 10 on Wednesday morning. However, if I look at the diagnostic area I still see crashes that have occurred but I guess its all handled in the background.

Sure hope it starts working for all.

Hmmmm, I think I had a crash. It didn't show the Apple so it was a lot faster. And it been around 5 days in ios10. So, it is a big improvement. It happened when I was in the Contact file and then went to the Map file and them tapped on the good old 'go back on the top left side' to go back to the Contact file. Oh well, it wasn't to bad, eh?

HI locsei, I agree completel. The only trouble is that the, pretty new, go back at the top left corner that I tapped to 'go back' is part of the iOS system. Like you say, most crashes are behind the scene. But, ipad Pro 9.7 crashes Occasionally while my wife's iPad Air has never crashed on the same iOS system. At least I've only had 1 crash, that didn't have the Apple show up, just had to tap the home tab to get back on. So that 'NoNo' is still there but nothing like it was(only 1 time so far in a week). So I'd call a 'soso' for now!
