iPad Pro 9.7 Random Restart

Normally wouldn't think much of this but, I have a 2 day old iPad Pro 9.7 128GB that has restart on me twice so far. In the middle of using it, it will cut to the Apple logo on the black background for a minute before returning to the passcode screen. Oddly enough, it will accept Touch ID in place of a passcode, something it doesn't usually do when it loses power. Any idea on the cause or how to figure it out? I chatted with the tech support but they only help they could provide was to do a restore. I just performed it, but my concern is that I installed an app or enabled something causing the iPad to crash and it'll simply continue to do that due to the bad app.

My random restarts stopped with 10.2 but this ipad has multiple problems. The only things the techs can tell you to do is to factory reset. The problems keep changing. One time it was freezing and now pages in Safari turn white. Apple won't admit that these ipads are defective. They will do nothing except factory resets. How many times do you need to reset the iPad to get it to work for awhile until Apple admits there is a problem..They won't admit any of their products are defective.

it occurs on my iPad Pro 9.3.1, 9.7 device also. I'd guess that it happens a couple times a day. Like you, it's hard to duplicate. I think ithe most times it happens to me is when I use the new 'Back to xxxx' option on the top left of the screeN. Like if I go from an email to an app that's in the email and then press the 'Back to Mail' is some times crashes. So, I think it must be software and will be fixed some time!! Fingers crossed!!

This is either a software issue that a swap won't fix or a hardware issue that Apple hasn't identified yet and will likely be present in whatever replacement you receive. As such, it probably doesn't make much sense to swap out your iPad at this time. Best you can do is probably visit the Genius Bar and just make them aware of the situation. Hopefully if enough of us bring this to Apple's attention we'll get a fix in the near future for it.

Swapping out for a new iPad did not help me. Both of my replacements did this. I set up as new but that did not help either. I have not had much luck setting up as new fixing anything. I had this same issue with my iPad Air when it first came out and a software update fixed it. Apple keep wanting to replace my iPad's so I tried it but it was not the answer. I am not saying it won't work for someone else just didn't fix my issues.
