I am trying to update my version of Chrome on my iMac and every time I try and do so I keep getting an error message saying that the update has failed and I get error code 11.
My current version of Chrome is 48.0.2564.109 (64-bit) and I'm running OS X 10.11.4
Any reason why this might happen and how can I fix it?

I found that a few hours ago and was looking through what people had been saying. I tried the very last instructions but it never made any difference. Thanks again though.
I had the exact same issue and I found that ksfetch was blocked in Little Snitch which is associated w/Chrome and Google. Unblock this and it will update.
