I phone 6 Oticon Streamer Pro 1.3 contection problems

I use the Oticon Streamer Pro 1.3 to connect to my iPhone 6.

I had problems with with my streamer connecting to my iPhone.

After updating the Ios my Streamer has dropped calls, switched from the streamer to the Iphone in the middle of the call, and it would also start streaming music.

After several weeks of trying to get Oticon to respond and a visit to my Audiologist. I found out the problem was with that new Ios was causing these problems.

Is there anyone at Apple that is aware of these problems.

It is very annoying that Oticon has known about these problem but will not share this vital information with the users of their products.

Thanks,

Michael Carney

I took this excellent advice and took my Streamer to the audiologist for updating the firmware. She took it to 1.3 (it's an older Streamer), then I restored the iPhone 6s Plus and re-paired the Streamer with it. At first I thought it had solved the problem, getting a call that went 4 minutes without jumping back and forth between iPhone and Streamer. But subsequent calls went right back to the same old thing, switching every minute or so. It looked like I was going to have to use a cable to make the connection.

So I looked into the user's manual for the Streamer to see how to do that, and I came across a note about clearing any pairings the Streamer had. I wondered if maybe there was some lingering miscommunication issues from those old pairings that hadn't entirely been cleaned out by the new one. So I followed the instructions for clearing old pairings (hold down the on/off button and the up-volume button together for 3 seconds), then did a new pairing with the iPhone, and that seems to have done the trick. I've now had five phone calls without a single incident of switching from phone to Streamer. I'm cautiously optimistic that my troubles may be over.

I updated last week to ios 10 on iPhone 7 and if anything it's worse. I tried setting Accessibility Call Audio Routing to Bluetooth Headset but then I didn't hear anything from Streamer. Then switched to Auto and it is random where it goes, with constant switching back and forth to iPhone. I do have LED Flash for Alerts ON so I might see a call come in if I am right next to phone.

Fortunately my Apple Watch helps too (love it!)

Liz, try following this advice.

Whooo Hoooo! The phone calls worked for me too, by resetting the Streamer and re-pairing with Phone, TV. Finally getting through a conversation just using streamer. Thank you so much. I have iPhone 7 ios 10.

But I still have an issue with alerts: I do not get any audio alerts on either the phone or in HA unless the bottom (music) button of the Streamer Pro 1.3 is active. Even testing the sound of an alert does nothing if the Streamer is just on (like it used to). Any ideas on this one? Liz

Here is the
instructions I was given to fix the problem, and it seems to be working!

On I-Phone

  1. Go to Bluetooth settings and hit the info circle with the i in the middle
next to where it says Streamer.
  2. Select “Forget the device” in the Bluetooth settings.
  3. Turn the Bluetooth off.
  4. Power down the I-Phone

On the Streamer you need to delete the pairings. Steps below

  1. Hold the power button and the volume up button down until the solid blue light
turns to a solid green light then let go.
  2. Turn the Streamer off.

Go back to the I-phone

  1. Turn on the I-Phone
  2. Turn on the Bluetooth
  3. Turn on the Streamer
  4. Pair the streamer to the I-phone again.

You will likely have to clear Bluetooth devices you may have, including possibly the car
Bluetooth. The i-phone 10 update corrupted some of the Bluetooth settings.

Problem solved!

I met my audi today. He had never heard about this kind of problem before. In fact he said that I'm his first customer using iPhone ever. Most of his customers are seniors with ancient Nokia phones.

Well, he tried everything. We tried 3 different streamers. Same problem with all. Connection problems all the time.

I insisted him to check the streamer firmware. So, he did!

...

The existing firmware in my streamed was 1.3.1. There was an update to 1.3.3. Then we paired the streamer again and all the problems were solved.

This was an hour ago and connection has had no problems so far.

...

So guys, go to your audi and insist him/her to update the firmware to 1.3.3.

The iPhone 7plus has the same issue. as a matter of face I left the streamer in my office and walked out to my vehicle and I experienced a very loud screech that actually painful. I'm not going to use the streamer until this is figured out and fixed.

It is kind of disappointing that it does not work. I just started wearijg HA'a again after 20 years and I am just amazed at the advancement in technology. I guess since I was not even interested in wearing a device around my neck, i didn't set my expitations high for this technology.

I have been having the same issue with my streamer pro 1.2 and my iPhone 6s. Finally sent it back to Oticon for an update (my audiologist was unable to do it). The update has not helped at all. While my streamer was being updated my audiologist loaned me a new Oticon 1.3 and I had no issues. I do not want to reset my phone to resolve this problem and do not think we should have to. So is it Apple or is it Oticon? My husband has an LG flip phone and a streamer and he has no issues.

I found that the key to solving the problem was clearing old pairings from the Streamer after I updated the firmware. To do that, hold down the on/off button and the up-volume button together on your Streamer for 3 seconds. Once I did that, the problem went away. I suspect the Streamer is holding onto bits of the old pairings and the old Bluetooth protocol and that's what's causing the problem. Once you clear those old pairings the communication between the new Streamer firmware and the new OS on the phone can work properly.
