iPad tells me I MUST change my "unlock passcode at this time"

my iPad is giving me a pop up message forcing me to change my passcode. It will not let me do anything unless I change my passcode and does not give me an option to do it later. I haven't been able to use my ipad for 3 days because I can't go past it and I refuse to enter my passcode into the pop up message because it looks fishy... I have heard/read about a similar problem with the iPhone with an option to do it later, but haven't seen anyone talk about this with the iPad. Please help. I last updated my iPad about a month ago and have never had any issues with it. It's a personal iPad (not corporate)

That is incorrect, there is no such thing as a proper shutdown on iOS and thanks to sandboxing and the fact there is no user file management access there is no chance you will corrupt a file.

Good point about not being able to access the Control Center. Pulling the plug on the router makes much more sense in that situation.

Got this message about 6 months ago changed passcode from 4 digits to 6 digits no problems.

so what do you suggest I do now? I went into settings and changed the passcode twice more after I entered my original passcode to get in... any other precautions I can take?

I would reset Safari. It could be overkill but then again..... All I can suggest is to wait for a fix or report it to AppleCare.

I think I have solved the problem on my wife's iPad.

As the rogue message has come via the Internet, I went into Airplane mode, then Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.

I also had this problem. Resolved it by pressing on the 'continue' on the message box and the sleep button on the iPad, together.
